40 year old versions? Every other guy hcooney fought was an unknown bum. Cooney was a marketing creation, a bum. Beterbiev would have battered the version of Cooney Spinks beat. Cooney was at the end of his career when they fought anyway. He fought one more time and was KOd by big George. Beterbiev sparks that version of Cooney who was no longer a legit fighter.
Qawi is a beast as well. I see both him and Spinks beating Beterbiev. We will have to agree to disagree.
Spinks wasn't scared just because Mike had power. It was the whole unique package that scared people. A lot of guys have power. Spinks fought Holmes and Cooney. I highly doubt Beterbiev hit harder than either. Even if Holmes wasn't the biggest puncher, he could still bang and was a true heavyweight.
You are exactly correct. Spinks had completely shot knees and basically took the Tyson money and rode off into the sunset. I'm from St Louis and grew up hearing stories about Butch Lewis begging Spinks to have one last fight against Tyson for that monster payday. All I know is Spinks use to do his road work in combat boots which really ****ed up his knees.
You don't have any idea what you are taking about. You are questioning the heart and toughness of one of the greatest fighters that ever lived? This is a man that came out of one of the worst ghettos in the country to win Olympic gold and then went on to rule what was probably the toughest era in light heavyweight history. He ducked no one and doesn't deserve the flack he gets from keyboard pussies like you because he didn't live up to your standards against a prime Mike Tyson. Spinks is a winner in life and in the ring.
Betervbiev has "heavy hands" for a 175 pounds so comparing Michael Spinks being afraid of Tyson to Spinks being afraid of Beterbiev is pretty sill.
Spinks would win, he was a very big LHW and had an unpredictable style, ko power, and great skill. He knew how to handle pressure, when to box, and when to brawl. He also cleaned out a very stacked division. I think Beterbiev would do well early since Spinks tended to start late and get tagged early, but he should weather the storm like he usually did and get a clear decision
Beterbiev that beat Gvozdyk would probably find it tougher to hit Spinks with the same amount of frequency. Spinks sometimes took a few rounds to get rolling, but Beterbiev tends to take time to get untracked, and will have a tougher time doing so against a hard punching and mobile LH with one the best jabs in the history of the LH division. Spinks by either clear UD or late round cuts stoppage.
He is smaller than Spinks. Spinks is taller , faster, more defensively sound and also a guy that beat Larry Holmes twice well north of 200 pounds. In what way is Beterbiev bigger and stronger?
