Probably! In a few year...that a a lot of cash invested for a probably. Id want to be hearing definatly.
I'm pretty sure DAZN will be a success but it's going to take time. Here in the U.K., Sky Sports will be no. 1 for many years to come and I can well imagine that the next 2-3 years will be really difficult for Eddie Hearn / Matchroom.
Matchroom / DAZN biggest problem isn’t sky it’s Probellum. They have **** loads of cash and they are hoovering up the fresh talent coming through. Sky have Josh Taylor (for now) but other than that it’s very, very thin. Probellum have huge sums of money getting thrown in and are broadcasting on “free to air” channels (for now), they have major backing in terms of “MTK” and they’re going to go far. DAZN won’t be going anywhere in a hurry though. It’s a global entity and seems to be doing very well in other markets which will carry the UK for a while if not indefinitely.
I agree with most of what you write. If you remember, I wrote earlier in this forum that it will not surprise me if the boxing product Probellum will offer on their upcoming platform will be better than what DAZN can offer today. In my opinion, Sky will be No. 1 at least for the next 5 years. Maybe 10 years...
Sky as a platform maybe, sky boxing definitely not. It’s not even number 1 or number 2 at the minute and it’s hard to see how they reclaim that spot without the talent that Matchroom, Queensbury and Probellum have.
Agreed. People will watch Sky through inertia because of their coverage of other sports, mainly the Premier League. The same way that my family pretty much only watched BBC when I was younger, a lot of sports fans look no further than Sky Sports. The quality of what Sky have offered so far is, let's be generous, mixed. It's clear to me that their top requirement from a new promotional tie-up was control. From the outside, the obvious link-up for Sky was Wasserman, but it's difficult to imagine Kalle and Nisse becoming company men like Ben Shalom - who probably can't believe his luck - has. Sky clearly don't want to create another Eddie. Top Rank has at least given them some top tier action. It was good to have Crawford v Porter on UK screens. A lot of the Top Rank content is niche, but having it on Sky is win-win. For a probably relatively low rights fee, they're getting plenty of boxing content for their schedule and social media channels. Eubank v Williams is a step in the right direction. I fear the undercard will be full of nobodies vs tomato cans again, probably worse than the stuff Frank and Eddie get pelted for putting on. I notice Steve "USSR" Robinson is on the TBA list for Cardiff again…
I think this is where boxxer need to improve. They have a few headlines but the fighters at mid level are non existent and therefore the cards are shocking. Why not get the likes of Josh Kelly on the carss
This content is protected Archie not with Frank anymore then. If you're not just a front for Drugs money it must be hard with people like Sharp, doesn't sell that many tickets, for as much as his fans are loud and people don't tune into watch him.
Give it a rest , sharp is one of Frank's biggest sellers. Must be a Frank employee, all this lads that are not with Frank anymore are non ticket sellers or something else. Get a life !!!!
LOL am not an employee, have also been saying for ages Cacace beats him so hardly changing my attitude on him. Sunny Edward's I like a lot but if 10k tuned into watch him on a free channel and I don't think he sells at all. Dont think that is a controversial opinion
Sunny I agree on but archie is known a big ticket seller so if you hate on probelum that's fine but make up lies on a fighter for attention is sad
Don't think that statement was made for attention lol...maybe he just assumed incorrectly. Can imagine Sharp been a decent ticket seller he's from London isn't he? Also he was a decent amateur. My friend beat him in the ams but I know he was well known and decent.
Sorry, but what talents does Matchroom have ? In fact, I think Frank Warren / Queensberry has better talents than Eddie Hearn / Matchroom.
Early days on a channel best known for ice hockey and obscure cricket tournaments. To be fair to them, their first two cards have been up against Matchroom cards on DAZN. A lot of the captive audience will have been over there. But yeah, those figures aren't good. They are going to need a lot of word of mouth among boxing fans, and to schedule a card that isn't clashing with another more mainstream promoter.
