didnt khan officially only win 4 rounds in that fight and survived off a first round knockdown and a late point deduction
dunno why anyone would pay to go see this.. both shot af lol. these brits are a weird bunch of fans to sell this out
but it aint gaining the traction needed to fund the fight clised off arena with 250000 ppv for that fight 10 8 years ago is shocking it would have done Wembley 700000 ppv easy khan ran from it
True. But my point is just over the past several years both of these guys have not been anything more than journeymen.
Someone who is barely a gatekeeper. Both these guys are faded. Yes they have had good careers and a high point here and there- Khan more than Brook- but over the past several years neither have been top ten contender material.
He's an outrageous natural talent but I don't know if he really ever wanted it enough that even if he had the perfect team from the start that he would of become an ATG. When he turned pro he basically hired a yes man as a trainer when literally most of the worlds best trainers were eager to work with him as they all saw the potential. So right from the start he turned his back on that possibility due to his lack of insight and just plain stupidity. When he did work with Hunter he showed some improvement but he quickly back slid into old bad habits. Hunter said when he first worked with Khan he was shocked that Khan only trained when he had a fight coming up, unlike most elite boxers who train year round Khan was basically boxing part time, he wasn't treating it like a full time job and wasn't putting in the hours. Hunter changed that, Khan basically moved to the US and trained there most of the time and then we saw improvements. He started counter punching, he was less predictable and was utilising inside work, even manipulating his opponents guard to create openings, it wasn't flashy but it was effective. But he couldn't remain dedicated and went back to living in the UK and only flying over to train when a fight was set and so he back slid and the last fight with Hunter he basically looked like he'd forgotten everything he had been taught and was fighting like he was before Hunter. They say boxing in 10% physical and 90% mental. Well Khan had the 10% but never the other 90%. He never had the commitment to the sport to be 100% professional and put in the hours in the gym to be an elite ATG level boxer and never had the ring smarts either to ever evolve as a fighter to become an ATG even if he had the mental discipline to put in the work.
