Although he was superb against Commey, in general Lomachenko hasn't impressed me as much at Lightweight as he did at Feather and Super-Feather and I think he peaked at, or was better-suited to, those weights. I think at 135 Whitaker is favourite here and while Lomachenko is no doubt gifted, here he'd be running into one of the few men who is in the same kind of bracket in terms of pure boxing ability and trickery.

Competitive fight, maybe not a great one to watch if you're not a purist, but I've got Pea by decision here.

Loma's good but he isn't that good. Whitaker wins a competitive fight on points.

They used to love to rob sweet pea. Don't no why they wouldn't rob him in this fight?

    Yes.

If, on January 20, 1985, Danny Avery had been swapped out for the March, 2014 version of Salido, yes, I can imagine Pea losing his second pro fight, most likely by stoppage.

Some fools keep bringing up Salido when Loma's name is mentioned.

    1) It was Loma's second pro fight.

    2) That was the worst reffed bout I have ever witnessed, and according to Al Bernstein, it was the worst performance from a ref he ever witnessed. Salido got away with numerous low blows that should have resulted in point deductions.

    3) Salido came into the bout two weight classes above Loma

4 Loma probably won the fight anyway. It wasn't an outright robbery, but at a minimum, Salido got a gift. He barely hung on to the final bell.

As to the question itself, there's a small chance Loma stops Pea.
There's a very small chance that Loma outpoints Pea.

There's a tiny chance Pea stops Loma.

There's a LARGE chance that Pea outpoints Loma.

    My take on the probabilities:

    Loma by stoppage......10 %
    Loma on points...........10 %
    DRAW..........................5 %
    Pea by stoppage..........5 %
    Pea on points..............70 %

    It's certainly not a mismatch.

Pea most likely takes this on points, but of those he faced at lightweight, it would be by far, his biggest challenge.

Felix and Oscar both beat him at 147, and at the end of his career.

I would expect he would have probably edged both of them earlier in his career at 135.

We ARE talking 135 here ?

That's as far up as Loma can box, and as far down as Pea did box.

    Correct.

The 3 losses that Pea suffered at the end of his career aren’t relevant here.

Roger Mayweather, Jose Luis Ramirez, and Azumah Nelson are all fighters at 135 lbs I'd favor to beat Lomachenko.

I'd even go as far as to say that Greg Haugen and Jorge Paez who Whitaker beat at lightweight are better fighters than any fighter that Lomachenko has ever faced.

By his late 20s Whitaker was fighting as a welterweight… Loma can eat basically what he wants as a lightweight in his mid 30s LOL.. size matters .. Lomas not even really a lightweight you can see it when he's in the ring with his opponents they always look much bigger than him

    They might.

But IMO, Loma beats all three.

    Roger Mayweather ?
    Are you serious ?

The other two would at least be competitive.

Roger doesn't make it to the second half of the fight !

    Again, possibly.

But none of them would be favoured against Loma.

You mentioned the words mismatch...and that's where our disagreement lies.

I would give Pea about a 75 % chance of outpointing Pea.

But it would not be a mismatch.

Loma would be competitive with any fighter who campaigned at LW any time in the last forty years or so.

Yes, he would have been competitive with JCC too.

He had competitive fights with guys not on Lomachenko's level.

And if they met at 126, it's a pick'em fight.

It's the style match up. Loma would be in deep sh*t against a relentless Chavez. Loma always has some issues everytime I've seen him get forced backwards. Watching the whole fighe even Richard Commey of all people was having a bit of success pushing Loma back and fighting him on the inside in the earlier rounds but it's obviously not his style and Commey isn't very good so when Loma did give some resistance Commey couldn't adjust and went back to keeping it long.

This does not bode well against one of the greatest pressure fighters in all of history. He would just run Lomachenko over, like he did Camacho

He didn't run over Ramirez, nor Rosario, nor Cabrera, nor Laporte.

JCC might well take it at 135, but it would be competitive.
