Wins: 1. 39 Ortiz, home, bodyguard doctor, TKO10 war 2. 40.5 Ortiz, home, KO7 (no attempt to win rounds) 3. 36 Stiverne, home, 11-1 schooling 4. 34.5 Duhaupas, home, TKO11 5. 27 Szpilka, short notice, home, KO9 6. 33.5 Breazeale, neutral, KO1 7. 35 Washington, short notice, neutral, TKO5 Draw: 1. 30 Fury, semi-fit, semi-active, home, war (controversial result) Losses: 1. 31.5 Fury, home, TKO7 domination 2. 33 Fury, semi-fit, 20 months inactive, home, KO11 war Wilder was a 30/70 underdog in one fight (Fury 3) and close to even odds in three (Stiverne 1, Fury 1, Fury 2). Wilder had home advantage in 8/10 and was the A-side in all of his pro fights save Fury 3. 2/10 of Wilder’s opponents were 39+. 2/10 of Wilder’s opponents were semi-fit, although Wilder was also 20 months inactive for Fury 3. 2/10 of Wilder’s opponents were late substitutes. 6/10 of Wilder’s opponents were 6’5+. 4/10 of Wilder’s opponents were slick movers. 6/10 of Wilder’s opponents were southpaws or switch hitters. Wilder wasn’t able to beat Fury in three attempts and was stopped twice but no one has come closer than Wilder’s near-KO draw. 4/10 of Wilder’s opponents were ex/current world champions, all reigning (Fury x3, Stiverne). The main difference between Wilder and AJ’s top 10 opponents is that AJ arguably has a better win (41 Wlad, 17 months inactive, life and death war, questionable late stoppage) but a considerably worse loss (30 Ruiz, short notice, dropped 4 times and quit in 7).
Wilders KO ratio is still off-scale, almost regardless of who he's faced, that coupled with nearly knocking out Fury in their first and third fight is what makes his resume impressive. Rather than the quality of opposition, which you'd be very hard-pressed to argue is on a par with AJ or Fury's resume.
Hard to believe you can become champ having fought no one then defend your title for years and also face no one.
This resume isn't very good. Im not even sure it's at the mediocre level. It's just bone dry for a 5 year champ such as Wilder. It's got nothing at all besides Ortiz. Also thats not even 10 opponents. It's 7
With Stiverne, who never really won a fight (one robbery) after beating far past it Arreola twice, as one of his best wins, and did nothing major in 6 years Ortiz as his best win, Wilder is clearly one of those manufactured champs.
The difference between AJ and Wilder resumes is that AJ has beaten 6opponents (Wlad, Povetkin, Whyte, Parker, Ruiz and Puelv) better than any Wilder has ever betean. That fact that AJ 7 best opponent he has beaten 8n Takam would be Wilder best opponent he has beaten after Ortis shows huge gulf in quality in the quality of opponents they have wins over.
I looked at the records of some of these guys (I may have posted it here but if not)..m Record of fighters fighting top ten (TBRB) heavyweights (# represents ranking at time of fight) Joshua 7-1 or 8-1* (wins over Martin#9, Breazeale#9, Wlad (unranked due to inactivity, but was rated 2 after this loss) Takam #6, Parker #3, Povetkin #5, Ruiz #1, Pulev, #8, loss to #10 Usyk) Fury 4-0-1 (wins over #8 Chisora, Champion Wlad, 2-0-1 over Wilder (rated 2,1,3)) Wilder 2-2-1 or 3-2-1 (wins over Stiverne #3, Ortiz fight 1(unranked before this I'm guessing due to inactivity, would enter in after this fight), Ortiz fight 2 #4, then the Fury fights (Fury ranked #8,#2,and champion) Whyte 3-2 or 4-2 (wins over #3 Parker, Chisora #8, Rivas? (Was ranked 10 but displaced by Ruiz after AJ victory), Povetkin #4, losses to Povetkin #6, and AJ #10 Ortiz 1-2 (win over Jennings #8, losses to Wilder #2, #3) Parker 1-2 or 2-2 (wins over Takam #8, Ruiz?(unranked before this would enter at 10 after), losses to Joshua #1, and Whyte #5 Ruiz 1-2 (win over AJ #1, losses to Parker #6 and AJ #4) Hunter 0-0-1 (draw with Povetkin #7) Joyce 0-0
Beat up and stopped prime Jennings after Jennings went the distance with Wlad and gave Wlad some trouble. It's an decent win (in this era)
