This is a cartoonishly simnplistic, false view. The logical mirror-image of old timers who insist everything old was better. And he did not even limit it to the early 1900's in many other posts. But the important thing is he avoided my main point. Which is that he was malicious & condescending (ironically when having a cliched, extreme position). Predictably he was banned. Liking to alienate people-or be mean-because you do not agree, thus will treat them with disrespect, is a bit sick. Hopefully he will grow up, behave decently, remain & earn some respect. He also avoided answering if he was another alt who got banned-once or more times.
I'll just comment on the higher hanging fruit since the rest is just silly. You're talking about the guy who routinely got clowned by Fat Willie Meehan right? Well, Tony Tubbs is a 6-4, 240 pound Willie Meehan from the other side of The Matrix. Gifted, slick, fast and tenacious.
Along with the post by @Entaowed this is all this thread needs. This post explains it in boxing terms while @Entaowed tried to teach @doopapoopy some decency. Everything you say is, again, spot on Mike. We have been learning since boxing started. Old fighters have become trainers and passed on their learning to new generations, travel has expanded allowing fighters access to other sparring and opponents, trainers have been able to learn from travelling and seeing other styles, film has given a whole new medium to learn, sports science, diet, nutrition; so much has helped the evolution. That said, the lack of gyms, lack of a deep talent pool, small cards where fighters can practise, alternative sports like basketball taking talent away from the sport, gaming taking the place of any kind of real sport for a massive proportion of youngsters and alternative higher reward danger occupations like drug dealing have all been factors in significantly stymying the progress. I honestly feel it is now in an irreversible and steep decline. When you have access to so much entertainment on your phone, why go and get smacked in the face to keep yourself from getting bored? You really are a good poster, aren't you? You don't fall for the hyperbolic - Tyson decapitates every one of them in under a second - line of reasoning. There have been too many posters like Doopypoopy lately, belligerent modernistas whose lack of knowledge goes under the radar as we try to work out what the hell their point is amid the vitriol (and, invariably, grammar) and so we simply focus instead on how obnoxious they are. It's classic misdirection, like Jack Bodell theatrically stamping on the floor while he jabs your face. You're a welcome antedote and the place needs a few more of you and a few less of them. And while I absolutely agree with everything you have said about evolution, Doopapoopy made a point in favour of modern heavies that I will take issue with in another post. I know he's been banned but I'll still post it for the benefit of those who have been agreeing with the complete tit. And I know that's slightly hypocritical to call him that after I have preached respect and decency but he was unpleasant on nearly every post he made. I don't see it as an insult so much as merely stating a fact. All the best, mate, and keep the faith.
Right. Andy Ruiz weighed 268lbs against Joshua first time out. I would estimate that a good 70 or 80lbs of that was fat. In shape, he would have weighed around 190lbs. He was essentially a 190-200lber carrying around 70lbs of useless blubber which would have only seriously affected his performance. Remember Buster Douglas against Holyfield and the ridicule he got for weighing 15lbs more than he did vs Tyson. Multiply that by five and you have the excess weight Ruiz Jr took into the Joshua fight. So, Ruiz Jr is at a significant disadvantage to his counterparts from the early 1900s insofar as he is weighed down and slowed down by his obesity. He must compensate for that by being much more skilled. He had had 33 fights in 10 years prior to the Joshua fight. Was he really that committed? Can you really hone a craft when you practise it so sporadically? And yet he bounced the no1 heavyweight in the world at the time around like a basketball. Food for thought for those who wouldn't give the old timers a prayer against our modern supermen, isn't it? Just don't tell Andy Ruiz Jr. He'll try and eat it.
Like it or not, Andy fights better north of 250. He says this. His trainer says this. His performances say this. He is what he is. Putting him on a crash diet would not make him better and would probably make him significantly worse.
What advantage is he getting out of carrying around 50 or so pounds of additional fat? I grant you that bodies have a healthy equilibrium point that differs from person to person. But Ruiz goes well beyond normal human variation. People don't get that weight easily; I find it hard to believe that 268+ is Ruiz's natural weight.
My two cents here is that Tyson KO's all, or most, of the Dempsey opponents. I think Sharkey would give him problems maybe for a couple rounds simply because he was a seriously tough guy. Maybe Tunney dances around and wins a decision? Maybe, but doubtful. Of the Tyson opponents....first of all JD sacrifices some speed for some bulk, and weighs in at 205 for these boutsso he'll be outweighed by a little more than Usyk was vs Joshua, but not much. Trevor Berbick...KO by Dempsey. Berbick was not a good boxer, and couldn't keep Jack off him. Bonecrusher Smith...UD Smith. The Bonecrusher too strong for JD Tyrrell Biggs...UD Dempsey. I like Biggs' guts, but JD outboxes him. Pinklon Thomas...UD Thomas. Again, Thomas too strong for JD Michael Spinks....KO Dempsey. The Spinks jinx won't work here. 38 year old Holmes...UD Dempsey. A young and fit Holmes wins a UD. Tony Tucker...UD Tucker. Tubbs' boxing skills earns him the victory. Tony Tubbs...UD Dempsey. JD outboxes Tubbs. Carl Williams...KO Dempsey. Stop with "The Truth" nonsense. Frank Bruno...lol Bruno so frightened he falls down KO Dempsey. Buster Douglas....UD Douglas. Buster doesn't get fazed by JD and finds a way to win. Razor Ruddock....KO Dempsey. Big guy, but doesn't have the skills to keep JD away.
Glass chinned tyson losses to sharkey, tunney, brennan, miske, and levinsky . firpo floors little mikey
Alternatively, tell him that you believe some random Victorian fighter beats Lennox Lewis, and let him do the work of avoiding you.
