15 rounds with a 70s ref and gloves.

Poll broken down by people who've had at least one boxing match (amateur or pro), and those who haven't.

    Who wins?

Making it 15 rounds doesn’t really help foreman. Wlad had better stamina even only going 12. If George catches Wlad in a barrage then he’ll finish him. If Klit is able to keep him at bay with the jab while tying him up every time foreman comes in then HE wins. I guess it just depends on who’s able to get their way.

George by mid rounds ko, Wlad would get his lumps in, but George isn't Sam Peter. Now Vitali, I can see him lasting the distance and getting a decision over Big George.

The problem is Foreman of the 70's didn't fight anyone near as elite and big as Wladimir. "Big Goerge Foreman" Wasn't bigger than Ali. How 220 pound Foreman reacts to a right cross or left hook from Wladimir would be very interesting. Wladimir has the speed and stamina advantage here. Either Wlad wins by decision due to his cautious nature or Foreman wins by stoppage early/mid stoppage.

You sealed Wladmir's fate making it 70's rules with a presumably strict ref. No more jab and grab, 1-2, reset, coast to a lopsided decision/late stoppage strategies.

Foreman enjoyed turning his knuckles over and digging in with extra malice with his wrecking ball body shots. The 70's gloves would suit him in this matchup. If Wladmir was having panic attacks complaining about the pace and stamina in the Ross and Brewster fights, he will have an absolute meltdown when Foreman targets his difficult to miss mid section. People seem to forget Ali survived because he sacrificed his body to avoid taking too many head shots. Ali was also an expert and rolling with shots and using the leverage of the ropes to minimize the damage. In no universe is Wladmir going to be able to take the same amount of punishment Ali did to the body. Nor is Wladmir as creative or flexible as Ali, he was actually quite stiff and predictable at times.

As for jabs, I think Wladmir has a slightly better one. The problem is Foreman is not going to just stand there content to get his head jabbed off. Even if he loses the jab war, he has other options like glove control, parrying, or making it an inside fight. If the ref is actually deducting points for excessive clinching or neck grabbing, Wladmir is going to be in serious trouble.

Ali realized that Foreman was good at cutting off the ring and knew that he'd get tired needing to take 2-3 steps for every 1 step of Foreman's. And since Wladmir is heavier than Ali it would be even worse. Attempting to hit and run or use lateral movement would not be a viable strategy.

Wladmir isn't taking him out with 1 shot, you needed to either land several barrages of shots over several rounds, or wait till Foreman gassed to stop him. I just don't see Wladmir lasting long enough for either scenario to happen unless he can get away with his usual jab and grab tactics. Foreman by KO within 9, but he may have to get off the floor to do it and would be very worn out too.

    I've had 2 amateur matches.

Wladimir has a better chance than many think. He could conceivably beat Foreman. But I think after some rough moments, Foreman's power would rescue him. Foreman by stoppage.

Ron Lyle knocked him down. Foreman isn't as durable as many think.

Klitschko gets a UD or a late stoppage victory.

Lyle was about the same level of puncher as Wlad. That said, Lyle wasn't the boxer Wlad was under Steward.

If Foreman doesn't catch him with big shots early, Wlad by UD.

    No.
Klitschko wil not give a slugger like Foreman the only possible way of winning.

I,d take foreman...but wouldnt be that confident without putting 20 lbs of muscle on him first.

Lets be honest thats what the modern guys done wlad and lewis. Foreman had room to grow...back then tho they kept them pretty lean because it was more a battle of attrition till one fell over.

Cant really judge eras fairly because things do change...but reckon george with 20 lbs of muscle would beat wlad.

One of the biggest questions I have about this fight.

Would Wlad be able to back George up????? George was quick to say only Liston could do that. But , Wlad is Bigger and Heavier, and has incredible power and reach. If Foreman starts to back up, then this works to Wlads favor quickly.

He was more durable and mentally stronger than Wlad.

Wlad lost by knockout 3 times in his 20’s.

He went life and death with Sam Peter.

He was dropped how many times in his career? 12/13 times?

    I wouldn’t fancy his chances.

George would had to have been made a significant favourite.
