    Your challenge:

Assemble a heavyweight top ten ATG list that is as different from the forum consensus as possible...but that you believe you could defend if necessary.

The picks can be strange, but they have to be supported by good reasons. Rating Larry Holmes #1? Okay, that's sort of arguable, as long as you can back it up. Rating Scrapiron Johnson as #1? No.

    Take your best shot.

Man I feel dirty….couldn’t even make a fake list without Ali and Louis lol. This is pretty far off what is my normal list. But pretty much 3-18 is very subjective. One can rationalize Charles at four for example by his wins. Or Liston by his domination and style and punch output.

Well it’s a known fact Scrap Iron was robbed against Joe Frazier. The crowd knew it and Frazier admits it in his bio.

Here’s my list based on who I think would win if all lineal heavyweight champions were put into a free-for-all battle royal in their peak primes (last 10 eliminated, final man standing as No. 1 — eliminations come from being knocked out, quitting or thrown over the top rope with both feet hitting the floor):

    1. Tyson Fury
    2. George Foreman
    3. Primo Carnera
    4. Lennox Lewis
    5. Mike Tyson
    6. Jess Willard
    7. John L Sullivan
    8. Jack Johnson
    9. Evander Holyfield
    10. Jim Braddock

    1. Rocky Marciano - 0 losses
    2. Gene Tunney - 1 loss, avenged 3 times
    3. Riddick Bowe - 1 loss, avenged twice
    4. Michael Spinks - 1 loss
    5. James J. Jeffries - 1 loss
    6. Lennox Lewis - 2 losses, both avenged
    7. Joe Louis - 3 losses, 1 avenged
    8. Joe Frazier - 4 losses against 2 opponents; holds win over one of those opponents
    9. Sonny Liston - 4 losses against 3 opponents, 1 loss avenged twice
    10. Michael Moorer - 4 losses; holds win over one of those opponents

Premise #1 - The facts show that these fighters, in sheer numbers, were the hardest champions to beat.
Premise #2 - If a fighter isn’t good enough to win THE lineal title, he’s not good enough to be top ten.
Premise #3 - Only retired fighters were considered. Thus no Tyson Fury.

    Another interpretation:

    1. Lennox Lewis
    2. Shannon Briggs
    3. George Foreman
    4. Michael Moorer
    5. Evander Holyfield
    6. Buster Douglas
    7. Mike Tyson
    8. Michael Spinks
    9. Larry Holmes
    10. Muhammad Ali

Premise: Each man proved he was better than the fighter immediately below him because he beat the man who beat the man.

I'm imagining a Top 3 (at their best) list from the 1970s that looks like a loop, and ends up short circuiting the list creator like a robot on 60s Star Trek.
