He wouldn’t have needed 20 pounds of extra mass.

He’d just have had to have put Wlad under pressure.

    Wlad hated pressure.

He spent most of his prime jabbing and grabbing, where Manny sometimes had to scream at him to let his hands go.

He was psychologically scarred from those early stoppages.

True. He did turn into a grap and jab machine after them earlyish days tho. Wondering how well foreman would have dealt with it. 20 lb plus extra of muscle is a hard thing to wrestle with all night.

Although we probably never seen anyone as good as foreman at pressuring...against wlad.

I honestly think that Wlad would have been mentally beaten before the fight, looking across at a 70’s version of George with that aura that he had about him.

George would have pressured him from the outset. He was immensely strong. I think Wlad would have been there for an uppercut.

I can’t envisage anything but a Foreman knockout.

People can rightly say that Wlad was better than Lyle. But for me, it’s not enough. Wlad was scarred and he was vulnerable. George would have been too much for him.

Mentally stronger? This the same man who got dropped and outboxed by featherfist Jimmy Young?

Foreman was so mentally strong that he retired after that loss.

The only time I ever saw Wlad fight was against Corrie Sanders. I remember at the conclusion hearing George Foreman, who was doing commentary, say 'Don't give up on him!' After Wlad started winning again for a time I expected Big George to be matched with Wlad and I felt that George would stand an excellent chance of catching Wlad as Sanders did.

With that in mind, I believe 70s Foreman could do all that Sanders did. Wlad's best chance would be to jab and move and survive the early rounds until Foreman gassed. He would have to avoid getting caught with one of George's bombs, and while he may be able to pull it off, my money would be on George.

Foreman was right-handed and slow, Sanders was left-handed and fast.

A slow slugger with questionable stamina is an easy matchup for Wladimir.

    Foreman by mid round KO.

I think Foremans durability, chin, toughness and power will prevail. That pressure and mental edge. That being said, Wlad is the better technician with the straighter punches. I see Wlad getting the better of it early on and possibly scoring 1-2 KDs. George has to close the distance to do damage and will pay a price in the process. Also the defense of young George was somewhat suspect.

    Corrie Sanders crushes them both.

Wlad has THEE chin and Foreman has an ATG gas tank so who knows?

Rahman knocked Sanders out. George would do the same.

What makes you think Wladimir would be scared looking at a 70's Foreman? People love to forget Foreman was barely 220 pounds in the 70's.

Getting beaten by the better man on the night isn’t necessarily a case of being mentally weak. The only way it would be considered so, is if there had been a confidence issue which had led to the fighter having chosen a certain strategy etc.

    George wasn’t mentally weak.

How much mental strength do you think it took to come back from a ten year lay off, which culminated in him winning a version of the HW title at 45 years of age?

Wladimir was psychologically scarred from his early knockout defeats, which is why he fought guys like Povetkin the way he did.

    Wlad was extremely vulnerable.

He was dropped 12/13 times in his career.

    An easy match up?

George would have pressured Wlad from the outset and thrown bombs at him.

How on earth would that have been an easy match up for Wlad?

    Wlad hated pressure

    He was vulnerable.

He barely survived against a crude Sam Peter.

    Get real.

It doesn’t matter how much he weighed.

Look at his attributes and how he fought.

His power, his pressure, his aggressiveness and his bad intentions.

Wlad was dropped a dozen times in his career and was stopped 3 times in his 20’s.

    He hated pressure.

    He barely survived Sam Peter.

He was psychologically scarred from those early losses.

Tyson Fury did a psyche job on him before they fought.

Having confidence issues and a vulnerable chin wouldn’t bode well if you were facing a guy like George Foreman.
