Did Floyd Mayweather fight anyone who could be called a top 100 fighter?

Aside from Manny who did Floyd fight who could be called a top 100 fighter of all-time at the time Floyd fought them?

 

Canelo obviously. Maybe Delahoya. JMM maybe

 

If one uses @McGrain's 2013 list as a point of reference, Mayweather has wins over three fighters rated in the top 100: Paquiao, JMM, and De La Hoya. I think a strong case could be made for including Canelo in an updated list. So, that makes four for sure.

Edit: If we're saying top 100 fighter at the time, then that would eliminate Canelo. Pac and DLH would have been considered fighters worthy of top 100 placement, I think. JMM probably cemented his top 100 ranking post Mayweather, so that's two top 100 fighters Mayweather faced at the time of the fight.

 

Manny, Oscar, Marquez, Canelo, and Shane. Cotto is borderline. Corrales probably just misses.

Yeah I can see 3-5 of them potentially being top 100 p4p and they were all mentioned in this thread already by other posters. Floyd also has a lot of other wins against guys who weren’t ATG’s but still pretty damn good fighters. I won’t may any grandiose claims about him being among the very best all time but Mayweather’s resume is undeniably awesome.

I'd say just Pacquiao.

I'm open to arguments for DLH coming just inside the top 100, but I didn't have him there.

If we're opening up the spectrum to their whole careers, I'd be open to arguments for Marquez and Canelo. At the time, neither had done enough to be top one hundo IMO. I didn't have either actually in the top one hundred when I last made one, I had them just outside (100-130ish), in a similar area to where I had DLH.

No case can be made for Cotto or Mosley ever being top 100.

Mayweather is ONE FIGHTER, with 50 fights/opponents, before he even stepped into the Ring, there was a 125 Years of History ahead of him - well a Top 100 list from that 125 year is less than 1 Great Fighter a year - really.

and from that 125 years we had literally 100's of 1000's of Fighters and among them we went from 6 Divisions to 17 Divisions and then we get to Mayweather's Decade - He Had 1000's of Contemporaries, in 17 Divisions and some pretty fine fighters competing at the TOP and around the Globe, and you want to start to begin to Nullify his Comp and in turn NULLIFY ALL before them.

is it not easier and More Accurate to Say for example, that So & So and Such & Such WERE/ARE Great fighters and competitive in any Era, Floyd fought at least 5 REAL DEALS and a Dozen more Worthy men... Is that Not a More Honest and Accurate Break Down.

how can you attribute a Top 100, to 'most' fighters, with all the years and numbers of competitors all around them, before or after them...

Saying "top 100 when he fought them" doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm not really sure why his resume gets way more scrutiny then any other fighter.

 

Canelo, Corrales, Pac.

I’d have to see 20 to know if Castillo, Mosley or Genaro Hernandez are worthy. Oscar would also be borderline top 20 at 154.

 

Genero Hernandez at 130lbs for sure.

I'd listen to arguments for Corrales at 130lbs, Castillo at 135, Manny at 147, and DLH at 154lbs.
