Did he just gas out? It seems weird cause his stamina seemed to be good in most fights.

Punched himself out. It happens sometimes when very muscular men fight at a high pace for too long. The muscles become so full of lactic acid they kind of lock up. Here is the same thing happening to Shane Carwin in MMA

His weak chin failed him. After this fight he changed his style to protect it.

One Mr. Joe Souza was badly mistreated and back-stabbed after years of faithful service to this great sport. That, my best good friends, is most certainly what happened.

he fought a very active style against brewster throwing high numbers of punches and moving a lot. I actually think its some of his best work but obviously a guy that big doing that much is going to get tired. Yeah Brewster hit him with some good left hooks but that was after he punched himself out. Was bizarre for sure the way it ended between rounds

He gassed out. He fought at a very high pace with a high volume of punches. It happened against Purrity too. Once he paced himself better and held for breaks he became very hard to beat.

He was forced to fight at a high pace because Brewster was coming at him like a freight train. He wouldn't have gassed out if he was in control would he..
How he paced himself in future fights was by catching rest breaks by leaning down on guys backs.

The ref in the Brewster fight wouldn't allow him do that. Thats a major reason why he crumbled mentally and physically. . Leaning and bear hugging guys to death helped him the most to stay undefeated

Exactly this. I think Wlad genuinely thought that they spiked his water at the time because of how he felt. That wasn't it, of course. Fought at too high a pace and blew all his gaskets. That's the same thing that happened with Ross Purrity - there's a clear pattern here. That's the reason why Wlad never fought at such a high pace again. The reason that he probably flushed a win against AJ down the drain by not opening all the taps.

"But he got hit" Wlad has been hit harder and more often by bigger punchers than Brewster and kept fighting. It's clear that this was not it.

That theory is bunk because WK threw MORE punches at Ray Mercer.

The difference is Ray Mercer was a beyond shot and had no legs. . Brewster was prime and was able to breach Wlads wheelhouse where he landed a body shot that triggered his downfall.

The fight isn't all that different to Ray Mercers fight against Tommy Morrison. That too ended in 5 rounds after Ray was getting lit up in the early rounds.

    I agree with that:

"Tommy Morrison got his first title shot in October 1991 against 1988 Olympic gold medalist Ray Mercer. Mercer was the WBO heavyweight champ and he simply outsmarted Morrison that night in Atlantic City. Morrison punched himself out of the fight very early and was out of gas by the fifth round. Mercer caught him and that was that. It was the first loss of Tommy Morrison’s career."

"But while Morrison had more wins and knockouts than Mercer, he had never before been past round six and in a fast-paced slugfest with an opponent strong enough to withstand his best shots, Tommy’s stamina, or lack thereof, proved the deciding factor. In the fourth “The Duke” started to tire and slow down just as Ray came alive, and suddenly it was Morrison who was taking heavy blows and holding on as Mercer seized control."

    Nice self-ownage :D
