The amount of weirdo fan boys who will be watching this just to somehow get one up will be funny. Very similar to when Wallin beat Brezeale.
A channel like DAZN who have no boxing in Janaury should be showing a fight like this. What are DAZN doing with January's subscription fees? It is fraud. As for the fight, it is on Fite TV.
This almost happens with every bout between mutual opposition. It's an interesting and competition bout in its own right. Ortiz looked past it a couple of years ago and I remember him blowing out of his arse against Jennings about 6 years ago. He must be 45 at least. Martin is all right to watch at a certain level, as a bit of a brawler. I don't know who will win this. Of course, a good version of Ortiz would certainly win.
My main bet here is that it goes over 6.5 rounds. I think Ortiz will want to pace himself, knowing his tank is his major weakness. Martin will be cautious, not wanting to get caught with a big shot early and will believe he can drown a gassing Ortiz late. Skybet gave me a free £5 bet today, so I put it on Martin to stop Ortiz in the second half at 16-1.
That could be a good bet. There's a good chance of that paying off. I think one of them will be stopped. I wonder about Ortiz' chin. He seems to me to have a good chin, but not sure how his chin will stand up in 2022. I was surprised that he nearly beat the count for that Wilder 2 KO. Although nobody talks about that, I was quite impressed all things considered. I like Ortiz so I hope he can put on a good performance.
Half decent fight...a bit gutted its took ortiz so long to get going again and only really got his big oppurtunity at about 40 years old cause he could have been a player. Hopefully its a good win for him because i still think he could do something especially against the right style of opponent....whereas martin will only ever go so far. More contenders the better.
Removed from betting considerations, I'd like Ortiz to stop Martin early but Ortiz is surely in substantial decline now and Martin isn't quite the knacker he was a few years ago. He was still useless for 6 rounds against Kownacki but he at least showed some intangibles and he looked pretty handy against a washed up Washington. Ortiz's punch resistance has to have declined now but it used to be good. This may make the old man even more cautious and mean it's more likely to go several rounds. The same for Martin: he knows he can't take the best shot so he'll also be cautious. Both have been inactive for a long time so that also tends towards a feeling out process and wanting rounds to shake off the rust. It might turn into a shootout late on when Martin realises he's way down on the cards and needs a KO to win, with Ortiz looking tired.
2 southpaws so it's got the potential for an ugly fight. I think Ortiz bosses it before getting chinned in 2nd half of the fight. Think @Safin will win his bet.
Is Martin any good, do any of you rate him? Once he got ktfo by Joshua and seeing him in social media videos smoking blunts and living the life more of a rapper then a fighter I lost all interest in him. I like Ortiz but he has declined drastically so wondering how he will cope with Martin.
