Luis Ortiz came to America on the Mariel Boatlift of the early 1980s as a teenager and worked as a Cuban hitman for the Colombian cartel. That would place his birth as mid 1960s thus making him mid 50s now.
Yeah, after killing some people, he decided he's not that bad, return back to Cuba, and when he start his amateur career in 1999(according to Boxrec), he was alrady 40! Putting the gloves for the first time at 40, lol, what a talent.
He fought Joe Ward in the 2010 World Youth Championships. I hardly think he was lying 12 years ago to fight in an amateur event.
to be fair, losing most of his first 10 fights, supposedly being at 30 when touching for the 1st time gloves and competing at youth, where he loses with 1:8..You may hate cubans, but it's strange to think in 1999 there were no other better 30 years old cubans at that time(your logic) then him to compete at youth.
IMO Ortiz is 48 and Sanchez is probably 35. The only two people from Cuba that I believe used their true age was Erislandy Lara and Gamboa Rigo, Ortiz, Sanchez, Odlanier Solis etc I believe shave a significant amount of years of their actually age..
