Both were contemporaries. Ingo had the better wins and a nuke of a right hand. Williams was a hard hitter with both hands. Neither had the best defense and about equal durability.

I would favor Johansen, but not with great confidence.

Depends on the advice Williams corner gives him. He was tall and athletic, so it would be relatively easy to simply pop jab out and use lateral movement. The biggest risk for Ingos strategy is that his very low output and attempt to win fights with one big surprise power shot means that he can be easy to outbox.

If Williams instead chooses to bring the fight to him, that could lead to disaster. Unless Williams manages to take him out early (which is certainly possible), he runs the risk of running right into that infamous right hand. When Williams was in the attack he wasn't always very cautious.

I'd favor Williams to win 65% of the time. But anything could happen.

Johansson knocked out Eddie Machen in one round, Floyd Patterson in three rounds, Henry Cooper (not on cuts, but by KO) in five.

Cleveland Williams is famous for losing to everyone and the people who beat him saying he hit hard.

Ingo by KO ... maybe as fast as he KOed Machen ... because Cleveland Williams stood straight up and NEVER moved his head.

    Witherspoon-Eklund -style "twitchfest" incoming.

I like William s early. I see him taking Ingo s shots better than than the swede could take his.
I'll go wiiiliams in around 3/4 rounds, before poor Ingo gets smashed to the floor for the last time.

Seems like Cleveland's straight up style and complete lack of head movement would make it really easy for Ingo to land the right.

Patterson was hard to hit flush with his bobbing and weaving, Machen had a good defense, even Cooper had good head movement. Ingo still caught them.

Ingo could throw overhand rights and land all day long on Williams ... but it would be a "very short day" ... like a couple minutes.

Same here. Seems like one of those fights that could go either way. Probably an exciting match though
