Jim Watt headbutted Sean O'Grady. That doesn't mean he was trying to save himself from being KOed. Guys intentionally and unintentionally headbutt in hard fights. It's part of the game.

Williams didn't knock him out. Didn't outpoint him. Williams got repeatedly headbutted and it was stopped.

Ingo knocked him out.

And fights don't have be on YouTube to count. Post some footage of Williams knocking any ranked contender out.

Knocking out Alonzo Johnson isn't that impressive ... not like brutally KOed the #1 contender or dropping the world champ seven times and stopping him to become champ ... but at least it would be something.

Blood ran from a gash on Williams' cheek as he sat in his corner between the 1st and 2nd rounds. He rocked Richardson with a left to the jaw in the 2nd and halted a Richardson flurry with two uppercuts in the 3rd. The American's cheek began bleeding again after Richardson was warned for butting. Williams didn't knock out Richardson. Ingo did. Williams didn't knock out Machen. Ingo did.

My point was he would have knocked him out ,and quicker than Ingo did,but the Welshman fouled out to save himself from a ko.If I gave a **** about your opinion I would go up in the loft and locate the Boxing News weekly edition which reported the fight ,but I don't ,so I won't.

Even in the description you posted, it doesn't say Cleveland Williams was on the verge of stopping Richardson but Richardson fouled out to save himself.

Based on the description you provided, Richardson was busting Williams to shreds with his head and Williams was the one in bad shape when the fight was called with all the cuts.

Some guys foul as a means to win. That's what they do. Wepner could've been disqualified every time he stepped in the ring. Some foul as a means to get out of a fight, as the recent Kownacki-Helenius fight showed when Robert dominated him.

But Williams sounded like the guy in bad shape from cuts when the fight was stopped from all the headbutts. Not the other way around.

Of course he didn't. The only time Johansson weighed anything like 206 was when he came in overweight for the final Patterson fight. He was consistently between 195 and 200.

 

He was between 200-206 lbs in 10 of his 28 or so fights, including Patterson 3 which was his career heaviest and one of his best performances, losing effort or not.

Ingo was 195 for one match in his peak years and 206 for one match in his peak years. What's the difference?

If you want to exclude Ingo's 206 as being an overweight abnormality at that time you have to exclude Big Cats 215 against Liston for the same reason.

Not that it matters. I feel a 195 lb Ingo would knock out Big Cat at any weight he wants to come in out. My point was that depending on the timing, Big Cat may not even have a substantial weight or power advantage.
