Hunter saw the writing on the wall. He couldn’t even beat Forrest in a rematch (and look atrocious in the process) - he had to take it via robbery. Hrgovic would have ended his career.

I don’t rate Joe particularly high as a fighter (support him, but I've known of his ceiling for some time) but he ducks no man.

I will be incredibly surprised if he didn’t take the fight against Hrgovic. Unless there is a better offer on the table, he will jump at this.

Here’s their fight from the AMs… Parker got a bit ripped off by that standing count in the 3rd??

At least Hunter was honest about it and didn't claim injury (like Martin did and now Ortiz is) although a dissapointing decison. Hunter claimed he got paid in each fight with Triller against low level opposition more than he did against Pvetkin, which is surprising.

Hunter was severely overrated for a while.
Like getting a draw with ancient Povetkin was something amazing.
It puts him above Hughie Fury, I guess, but not much else.

From a financial perspective what Hunter did is understandable. Same with Ortiz if his next fight is with Ruiz or someone else for more than Hrgovic would bring him. It's not what fight fans want but fact is people are motivated by money primarily in the business of boxing and so these decisions make sense even if we don't condone or respect them.

I don't think he was overrated because I never really saw anyone say he'd go onto do much other than be a decent contender. Nobody was seriously hailing him as a future unified or undisputed champion for example. He was a fighter who was taking tough fights and sometimes on short notice and entertaining the fans and so some people were drawn to that and supported him but they weren't hailing him as the next big thing. Maybe there was the odd die hard fan but for the most I think people just enjoyed his fights and his willingness to take risks and so supported him, at least that's why I liked him.

Obviously that has now changed as he's signed with Triller and he's fighting soft touches and lost what ambition he seemed to have.

A Whyte rematch would be the only money fight for him, but no way Whyte takes that fight right now.
I doubt that there is a better payday/route to a mandatory shot for him out there atm, so I think he'll fight Hgrovic.

I'd be surprised if he DOES take the Hrgovic fight. Parker is just like the rest of them. He wants the easiest path to a title shot. These guys all talk but when it comes time to fight, they come up with excuses. I am so done with that. Fight the best and earn your shot. Don't fight bums and cry that no one is willing to fight you. This is a direct path to a title shot and we all know that the IBF does not joke around hahah. They will strip you if you don't comply. They are not like the WBC, bending the rules and making it up as they go along.

Parker has until Friday to come up with an amazing excuse as to why he cannot fight Hrgovic next. I wonder what that excuse will be?...

Ortiz ducking Hrgovic somehow involves Fury 'ducking' Whyte........hmmmm interesting logic there Tyistall......

He's being offered peanuts to fight a high risk opponent? Can get paid more fighting plenty of others with a higher likelihood of winning?

They aren't really 'excuses' though. Just logical reasons for not taking a fight that doesn't make any sense from Parker's perspective.
