Needless to say, as one of boxing's most iconic figures, Sullivan is far, far "greater"... but h2h, in a gloved boxing match, he probably wouldn't last long against Tua.
Tough moderators. That’s why I don’t start threads - I’ll let others stick their necks out. I had Tommy Burns v Tyson Fury in my back pocket - but there it will stay.
One of the most chilling KOs you’ll ever see - Ruiz announced as hailing from Massachusetts. - just good luck or good management? Ruiz was clearly missing a crucial feature of John L’s armoury - the handle bar moustache.
The Tua v Ruiz result is an aberration. Tua threw a wild, swinging left hand and Ruiz made a stupid mistake. The stars collide. They both sucked. Oddly enough the more accomplished Ruiz gets worse every year and Tua gets better every year. Go figure. I reckon that if they fought 9 more times, each of the 9 would be memorialized as a boring, terrible fight between two guys that sucked. Which would be appropriate. As it is, a fluke has earned Tua status that his ability did not. He was a fat, slow, lazy guy with a good enough left hook. As to Tua against Sullivan...are they allowed to drink between fights.
This is kind of the problem with people who big up Tua. They watch highlight reels of him destroying opponents who are not world class, and then imagine the faces of the all time greats on them!
