Unfortunately these shenanigans are probably as much to do with the fact that Bob Arum doesn't want to give Eddie Hearn any piece of the Fury action at all, and Hearn is probably hoping to get the WBC belt awarded to Whyte so he can find a way back for Joshua.
It's about ego and power of the promoters, fuelling the egos and delusions of the fighters too.

Lots of folk seem to be ok with this based on their opinion of Whyte or his promoter, but this would be a better sport if organisations applied their own rules. Whyte has earned the mandatory challengers cut with the names on his resume and he's a decent talker who will help push the take up.

All we're really talking is some leverage in negotiations with Top Rank, because Arum will want rematch clauses etc. Although at 20 it would be fun if Whyte said **** it and just went for a KO. Get it and the 80pc split would seem scant reward for the loss of potential earnings in the future.

Either way there's no end to the hypcrisy. Remember Fury's 'two fighting men' both risking their heallth spiel when he was seeking parity with Joshua?

Fury is an overrated con man who has already swerved most of the top contenders of today. That's why I cannot stand to watch him swerve another top guy. I could not care less if Whyte 'deserves" the fight. He is the mandatory. And Fury should not be allowed to walk through the raindrops without getting wet again. He wants to fight another tune up but as a champion he should be made to fight top guys at least SOME OF THE TIME right?

Exactly. Some people on here obsess over which fighters are "ducking" each other. In reality I doubt any world level heavyweight is that 'scared' of another - it's the greed of promoters and promotion companies that ultimately delay things.

But do you really think ..
if Fury was to fight, for example :

    [Ruiz or Parker or Joyce]
    and
    Usyk

    in 2022

we should really give a **** that he didn't fight Whyte?

If Fury fought Usyk (despite Whyte being in my opinion over due his title shot) I wouldn't hold it against Fury. I'd give Fury full credit for fighting the the top guy in the divison (Fury would be the best HW of thrbgeneration if he won).

If Fury fought Parker, Ruiz or Joyce I would give Fury credit as it would be his best opponent since 2015 however I still think it would be a duck to Whyte who styliscally would be the most difficult opponent out of the 4 of them for Fury as well as the most profitable fight.

Without fighting AJ, Whyte, Parker, Sanchez or Joyce?

If he fought Usyk and won also Whyte and AJ (win or lose) I’d give him the credit as the best of our generation, right now I’d say he’d just be a standout if he fought Usyk and won..

    Eh.

Whyte and Parker are clearly not intention as the best in the division.

It's highly unlikely to be Joshua.

    Sanchez.... what?

Joyce is a good fight and it would be good to see him in with Usyk or Fury, or even a fringe contender to see where he is at.

Tee-Eff and Oh-You are clearly the top two right now. Joshua should be put in against Wilder. But oh no, the Joshua fanboys don't want that even though it makes a lot of sense at this stage in both of their careers.

@Aydamn must have forwarded you a Brown Paper Bag - any decent World Heavyweight Champion flattens Pudding Whyte.

You’re right I take Sanchez back… Parker I’m going with I think he’s tough as nails but needs a degree of killer in him..

I think maybe even Sanchez can be better than Parker, but who knows. Maybe i don't have the foresight to see his potential, but I maybe he and Parker and are on a similar level. I don't rate Parker because of what you said. There is a reason he is referred to as Paint Dry Parker (credit @Jurgen) I can't imagine Sanchez or Parker having much of a chance against Fury.

Whyte's chin will shatter as soon as he's hit - although I am a fan of his.

Drago from Newcastle may be the man to stop Fury.

And I bet Usyk is not getting more than 50% in the rematch against AJ. Bet he is on shorter side of split. But he still got well paid and backed himself. Whyte on the other hand....

Whyte is not overdue a title shot. He has lost one of his last 2 fights. Joe Joyce imo his the man who deserves a title shot first...beaten Dubios, Takam and Jennings in recent times. Unbeaten, chinning almost everyone. Absolutely no complaining from the lad, doesn't harp on like some sort of hard done to victim and a fighter who I genuinely believe would fight anyone tomorrow.

Exactly mate. Joyce is a tough fight for anyone, I'd not bet against him if he was in with Fury or Joshua.

And let's not forget Whyte's fairly recent PED history, where he was caught, then uncaught, then swept under the carpet. I mean, I know they're all at it, but come on.
