Ruiz has faster combos and Marciano would be too small to take his power, however if Ruiz fought how he fought in his last fight he could lose.

 

This might be the first fight ever where the naturally bigger man is outweighed by nearly 100lbs. Rocky will look like Michelangelo's Venus de Milo every time he lands a body shot.

This fight would look like the Cockell fight. I'm not Rocky's biggest fan but he's a legitimate ATG. His opposition was almost invariably off prime - usually a year or two past their best - but never in as bad a condition as what Ruiz entered the ring in for his fights with Joshua.

Cue 20 page thread how Rocky was not the naturally bigger man and would have been a featherweight with modern day training nutrition and day before weigh ins. I'm off before it starts.

just another C ockell fight, not simply because of Chubby Ruiz, but he is a good boxer, yet not a killer and the Don might have actuallly been a better 'Boxer', but the Rock would beat him similarly.

The shot that rocked AJ would have dropped Rocky, Ruiz is a bigger puncher than the light heavy Moore was, those fighters were very small compared to today`s heavies and Rocky wa too easy to hit, Ruiz`s faster combo`s would be too much for Rocky.

He wasn`t one of the hardest hitting heavyweights of all-time, what was his KO ratio at heavyweight? Did he ever stop a heavyweight with one shot? Did he ever stop a heavyweight that wa as big as AJ, Moore didn`t have anything like the power that AJ has.

 

Who cares what the weight is, Moore was one of the Hardest Punchers in Boxing, as WAS Marciano and that's what the thread is about, Marciano.

yes Ruiz is a bigger man, but he is Not a Giant and he is No Killer, so the Rock will have not much of a different fight than 'MOST' of the ones he had!

 

Ruiz's effectiveness has a lot to do with the fact he's one of the few guys who can actually let his hands go on the inside. Crisp, clean hooks and uppercuts in bunches. He uses his shorter stature and arms to his advantage with good power and speed.

This would not be as effective on an even shorter, crouching opponent whose stepping into Ruiz whenever he gets a chance. They have some similarities, but Rocky would naturally be more effective up close and fights at a higher pace. With 15 rounds and a 50's ref, Ruiz would be very uncomfortable and frustrated that the majority of his blows do not have the full weight and leverage behind them. Rocky, in contrast, would be overjoyed that he has such a huge hard to miss target and would hammer away at the body before trying to set up some of his leaping uppercuts.

I'd say Rocky wins a close decision due to a higher volume of shots and being the more effective inside guy. Ruiz lacks the jab and mid range game to frustrate Rocky. I haven't seen a Ruiz fight where he can expertly keep a short aggressive opponent at Bay, and he doesn't employ the Wladmir back leaning tactics either.

Moore was not a hard punching heavyweight, he was just a blown up light heavy.
