Prime Mike Tyson vs David Tua

I like Tua, but he wouldn’t have beaten a peak Tyson

 

Tyson would have been too strong and quick

 

Tua didn't have the reach to keep mike off of him either. And Tyson himself had a crushing left hook, and a crushing right hand as well.
Mike was just better at his peak in almost everything and i think he would wear David down with his volume punching.
Tua's chin saves him from a KO, but not from the judges!!

I like the Tuaman to get him late.

Maybe like the 10th round in a bout he is way behind---especially those dkp scorecards. But Tyson will tire and will still be walking in and gets clipped with a big left hook. And once it gets past about the 5th round, Tua's ability to take a punch and his overalll punch resistance gets better and better as rounds go by. That and Tyson is not exactly going to get on his toes and box--he will be right in front of Tua and that subtracts one of tua's big weaknesses the slow feet. Won't have to look for Tyson, will he?

 

The best version of Tyson keeps Tua honest. Not an easy fight for Tyson at all though.

 

Mismatch.

 

A very brutal, back and forth war for the ages. Tyson wins the majority of the rounds with his seamless transitions from offense to defense, better overall ring IQ, and having power in both hands. Tua had the better chin and raw power in his hook, but doesn't bring much else to the table that he has an advantage in. Both guys would be covered in lumps and bruises from all the heavy nuclear bombs they drop on each other. There would also be many moments where they smother each other's shots, along with plenty of ugly mugging up close since neither guy can back up

Tyson UD. Or stops Tua very late if he builds up enough damage over the course of the fight and empties his clip on Tua.

If we're talking prime Tyson he almost certainly wins, but it would be a hell of a slugfest, Foreman/Lyle style. Even with Tua being outmatched here, he's still definitely dangerous to Tyson. Tua was extremely durable, probably moreso than Tyson, and also had more raw punching power, but Tyson was much faster and more technically skilled. Also, while Tua had more power and durability, Tyson was still extremely hard to put down, and had immense punching power in both hands.

I think they both probably knock each other to the canvas at some point, but Tyson comes out with a not-very-close UD. They both have a decent chance of getting a KO or stoppage win. Either way, it would be a nuclear war.

If this is post-prison brawler Tyson, they would both brutalize each other in the ring until an inevitable stoppage, probably in Tyson's favor, though its tough to say. They might both end up with brain damage (at least, if Tua's war with Ibeabuchi is anything to go by).

 

Potentially could go the distance. Tua was never stopped in over fifty fights and could punch pretty damn good himself. I’d favor Tyson but this would be a tough match and probably a good one

 

If David Tua boxed very well, it would be like against Ike Ibeabuchi.
But Mike Tyson is not Ike Ibeabuchi. If you mean '88. Mike Tyson, then brutal KO.
