Yeah as a pro he's too green to be in position for an eliminator right now. Hrgovic shouldn't be in a position for this either but it is what it is, I suppose at least this way somebody with a pulse might fight him without crying high risk low reward. I mean it's high risk low reward for a guy like Parker but for Gassiev this would be perfect.

Hrgovic has quite a nice duck pond in his garden.

Parker has fought bigger punchers and it's hardly affected him. I doubt he ever gets KO'd.

If fighters want to be in the limelight they've got to fight! Hrgovic should be in the ring regularly even against lower level fighters to keep his name at the fore front. It seems that no one, and I mean no one wants to earn a title shot these days.

There are a lot of assumptions being made by fans on this board.

The IBF wants to hold an eliminator by the time Joshua and Usyk fight because an IBF mandatory may be up next (given the mess with the WBA).

That's the hurry here, on the IBF's part.

As far as I know, the date for the Joshua-Usyk rematch hasn't been set yet but everyone expected it to be in March or April (but now March is fast approaching). And you can't even hold fights in the UK in January, so fights that would've taken place there are being pushed back already.

The IBF told Luis Ortiz they want to stage a final eliminator in the March/April timeframe. Ortiz’s manager Jay Jiménez told the Miami Nuevo Herald that Ortiz has a minimal fracture to his left hand and he won’t be ready by the March/April time frame Hrgovic and the IBF want.

They didn't refuse to fight Hrgovic, they just said they can't do it in March or April.

If the IBF could've gotten Parker, that would've been GREAT. If the IBF can get someone like Yoka, which they may, that would be GREAT.

But if they have to go down further and further to find someone, they may as well just wait until May until Luis Ortiz can give his hand a few weeks to heal before he opens camp again. He was first-up anyway.

The IBF seemed to want to do this fast. I totally understand why. I believe these fights should keep rolling along. I hate waiting.

But if they're now pondering people way on down the line ... just hold off a month. Joshua-Usyk hasn't been announced yet. It's not like the IBF has a flat deadline they are working against.

Creating an unnecessary deadline could shoot them in the foot if they start trotting guys way way down the list of contenders like Gassiev, who can never seem to survive a training camp.

If Hrgovic gets locked in to a fight with some ranked very low like Gassiev, and then Gassiev gets injured in camp over and over and over again (like he does) ... Hrgovic can be stuck all year waiting for that nonsense.

They asked Ortiz, he said he needed a little more time. He just fought last weekend. They asked Parker, he passed. If they asked Yoka and he passes, I say just wait for Ortiz and stage Hrgovic-Ortiz in May.

What's the difference if an IBF final eliminator happens April 16 or May 7, really?

Parker fights like he doesn't want a world title, despite having one before.

Parker got a decent sum when he lost that belt to Joshua. I don't think the loss burns his heart like it should.

@senpai lol, Sauerland said Ortiz is 52, then corrected it to 42.

I think what you meant was....

Sauerland correctly said Ortiz is 52, then incorrectly said 42.

so many butthurt people on here quick to call a former world champion heavyweight fighter a coward even though they'd do the same if in parkers shoes.
you can clearly see he's going the wbo route and that facing hrgovic doesn't make $$$$$$$$$ sense but u just cannot help yourselves from giving lip, lol.
