It only got 50,000 buys. That is why Showtime and Floyd have been so quiet. PPV buys are always publicized after fights. This was done after every Pacquiao, De La Hoya, Mayweather fight, etc. The fact that numbers were not released openly proved the numbers blew. This number was provided by a reliable journalist.

I am not a particularly massive fan of Tank but I will say this; stop making PPV numbers the be all or end all in boxing. All it will do is get promoters to put on the most lucrative fights which aren't necessarily the most competitive fights. Crawford is a terrible draw, but there's great fights out there for him that we can have right now, except that promoters are letting them marinate in the hope that it becomes bigger.

Showtime already confirmed it did nearly 100k on digital. What hasn't been announced is the linear numbers.

The 50k number was made up out of thin air by a twitter troll. It's not true.

Good. That sliences a number of Tank nuthugggers who think he is a major draw. The medias a tryin, but the fans ain't a buyin.

Have you ever heard a reported number below 50k? Ever? I can't recall.

That seems to be the minimum ever reported. I wonder if there's any more to that specific number than "pulled out of thin air."

I highly doubt it. Cruz was unknown. Tank is not a big enough star that he can fight unknowns and sell alot of PPV like Mayweather or De la Hoya. The fact that they still have not released the numbers proves fishy. Also, people buy PPV's for fights they perceive as evenly matched and exciting. Most fans and oddsmakers predicted Tank by KO within a few rounds that is not conducive to sell alot of PPV's.
