How much of a handicap would there need to be for Rademacher to beat a prime Ali?

We've all heard every historical excuse in the book for poor performances. Everything from legitimate complaints (Patterson's back, Golota's medical issues) to silly ones (Wilder's ring attire).

How much of a handicap would there need to be for 0-0 Pete Rademacher from the Patterson fight to beat a prime Ali?

    I've edited it.

Essentially, I'm asking how much of a disadvantage you'd need to pile onto Ali before Rademacher could win.

Ali's broken ankle or severe damaged tendons in an ankle.

They would need to go back to 1905 and have Greggains ref and judge the fight.

Ali was skilled and canny enough to crank up the aggression. Rademacher doesn't survive 20 rounds of rock-em-sock-em-robots with prime Ali.

Good point. It's hard to imagine Ali allowing Rademacher to last the distance.

A twisted ankle might do it.

Maybe. Although it wasn't enough to take out Jackson against Corbett, IIRC, so it may still be an open question...

I don’t even know if Rademacher could beat the Ali who fought Berbick.

Ali would need to be just a head in a jar, being kept alive on a ventilator in his corner. Angelo's rallying cry "you're blowing it now, son" inspires 'the head' to avoid most of Pete's jab and hooks and, despite losing every round, Ali escapes with a draw.

Even if Tony Soprano kneecapped Ali before the fight and put tacks in Ali's boxing boots, Petey wouldn't be able to get past the clinching, head movement, or hand speed. Ali would be able to fight him off the ropes no question.

So more than a mob style kneecapping, but less than arm removal. Somewhere in between those two. Maybe armless Ali would just Willie Pep the debutant and win the whole fight without throwing a punch.
