Counterpunch Boxing News Speaks about AJ`s interview about new training staff and where McCracken went wrong, AJ states that Rob never corrected the mistakes during his fight with Usyk and just kept saying the same instructions and that he needed more guidance, will AJ`s new team improve his chances v Usyk? Easy to pass the blame and look at others but there will come a time where AJ has to take a bit more responsibility himself. He is the one in the ring ultimately.
I think this time AJ will train better and beat Usyk. He had fought well in rounds 5 & 6 and won them in the first Usyk match. Now his new training team will teach him what his mistakes were, and will show him the way how to beat Usyk. Usyk will probably retire after losing to AJ in the rematch.
Then, OldSchoolBoxing wakes up from his beautiful dream and watches Usyk's second dominant win over bodybuilder.
@Moonlight I don't know, it seems like we are living the same things after the first Ruiz match. AJ was giving interviews like this and he trained differently, and won the rematch. I am thinking the same thing will happen again.
Ruiz was 573 kg and f*cking slow in the rematch. Joshua outboxed him. Usyk is different breed. Usyk doesn't like burgers and tacos. He takes a shower with vodka every day and wrestles with bears at -30 celsius.
Exactly Usyk won't develop a 20 enchilada a day habit in between fights. Joshua fought risk averse and smart in the Ruiz rematch. Take that tactical approach against Usyk he will get shut out, even on a Howard Foster card. I don't think it's a forgone conclusion that Usyk beats him in the rematch. AJ has seemed to take the L like a man and is willing to admit he has to do something different. But trying to draw comparisons between Usyk and Ruiz is just plain loco.
Usyk is the rightful favourite as no doubt he will use what happened in the ring to makes improvements himself though. But it’s heavyweight boxing and AJ does have decent power so by no means is it a foregone conclusion. AJ did have his moments in the middle rounds. The main concern for me was how early Usyk was able to hurt him.
Joshua is a PUNCHER/Boxer not a stylistic Boxer or an all out Brawler or even a BOXER/Puncher! Sure he can Box as he showed against Ruiz in Fight 2 and yes he can Brawl as he showed against Whyte but he is at his best when being a PUNCHER who can box a bit to get in and wreak havoc with his power p, size and strength. He’s in a fortunate position of being able to play different styles against different opponents but must select the correct style and execute it well to win! Lennox Lewis did this superbly, think Lennox v Golota or Lennox v Grant then compare Lennox v Tua. To have his best chance v Usyk Joshua must Select the correct style for the opponent and then be his absolute best on the night. PUNCHER/Boxer is the only style that Joshua can beat Usyk with, he needs to use his natural attributes height, weight & power behind a bit of cultured boxing but mustn’t let the Boxing take over.
Joshua has no chance to win the rematch. The only way he wins is Usyk breaking his freaking leg. Usyk is levels above skill-wise and as we saw he can take a good Joshua right hand or a decent Joshua left hook. I know people trying to hype the fight and i know Joshua fangirls are desperate to find a reason to get some hope but in the end it'll be another ass whooping and this time Usyk might even stop him (if he wants to). Comparing this to the Ruiz rematch is new level of stupidity btw. You can quote me after the fight and give me the props i deserve for my aggressive statement "zero chance". Thank you!
Chisora bought him a burger to which he enjoyed so as per normal you don't know what your talking about
