Sasha Usyk is not an obscure figure to followers of boxing, so I have to wonder about the sincerity of the question.
Well... being friends with a theocratic fundamentalist Islamic dictator and butcherous death squad supporter like Ramzan Kadyrov, makes one wonder about a man's morals and judgement.
How? He's friends with a Islamic dictator that's turned Chechnya into a terror hotbed and virtual new recruit pipeline to ISIS. He's both anti-terror and pro-terror, whenever it suits him.
What a ludicrous statement....Trump was friends with a convicted pedo Epstein ... Trump guilty by association? No I didn't think so
Chechnya USED to be a terror hot-bed. All the Salafis and radical Jihadis used to go there. Then they killed Kadyrov's father so Kadyrov took revenge and purged them out at the orders of Putin in exchange for stability for the nation. I'd rather holiday somewhere like Chechnya than a narco state like Mexico or in Latin America THIS used to be Chechnya in the 1990s... I don't think being in proximity to somebody who supports something bad makes them a bad person. It's really not far off going "he's bad, because he's friends with somebody whose friends are bad".
Did I say Beterbiev was a terrorist? No, I didn't. I said it's morally questionable to hang out with a piece of human excrement like Kadyrov, and he shows poor judgment in doing so.
I'm more than well aware of everything you mentioned. None of this is news to me. It still doesn't change the fact that Kadyrov is a very bad guy, a dictator and an Islamist, with a pisspoor record in regards to human rights. Personally, I'm not all that opposed to the tactics of Kadyrov in reining in the extremism in his own country, had he replaced it with something vaguely resembling the benevolent authoritarianism of a Syria, Lebanon or Turkey. But no, he just killed the terrorists and kept their radical ideas in place. It wasn't just bad that Mao and Pol Pot were tyrants and murderers, their policies and form of government sucked too. He's a fascist theocratic dictator, and it's weird that Beterbiev, who otherwise seems like a good guy, is so forgiving of that. And as I mentioned above, that's morally questionable and his judgement is off. The vast majority of Latin American countries aren't Narco States. Argentina, Chile and Uruguay are easily preferable to a helhole like Chechnya.
It's a little more complicated than that. It's more like he's personally friends with and a supporter of a really really bad guy. I mean, the guy has one of the most atrocious human rights records in the region. He supports honor killings, he's rounding up and disappearing gays, and is for forcing women to wear headscarves. It's basically the equivalent of Rigondeaux coming out in support of Fidel Castro. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
All Chechen athletes operate under the "Akhmat" banner, named after Ramzan's father. I dont understand the problem, if people have a problem obeying the rules out there they can leave. It's not the West where people have the privelege of being stupid or a renegade and get away with it.
