How many of those fights were before the lucas Brown one? He was tested for viewing figures that night and Hearn decided to roll the ball on him after that He got absolutely battered by AJ and SKY decided to market a moment he hit AJ in the temple as a selling point That was the basis of it
AJ arguably has (Wlad win alone is better than anything Dillian has done), plus he beat a undefeated Parker, a younger, more dangerous Povetkin, and Pulev who although 40 is better than Rivas, Wach, etc. AJ's not currently a champion so I'm using him as an example. Your right though and I take your point, that's the sad thing about boxing. There aren't others out there who have beaten better, that though is a terrible indictment on the sport we all love and how rife it is with politics, corruption (blatant, undisputable corruption too) and self interest rather than proof of how great Dillian Whyte is, or how well he has done. You can't beat someone unless you fight them. Joe Joyce is an absolutely prime example of this, as is Hrgovic. Both would demolish Dillian Whyte if they fought tomorrow, they'd wipe him out. The problem is they are wasting away, losing precious time and their best years due to the mechanisms and politics of boxing. The HW division moves at a turtles pace, fight we want to see very very rarely happen so it's at times virtually impossible to put together a good resume, not unless you have huge financial backing, the right platform, and can get the fights at the right time. When the belts do eventually splinter which should happen by the end of 2023 or early 2024 I hope there is finally some movement...
I dont quite get the argument....his success is based off hitting aj with a punch and beating browne? You,ve got to start somewhere. He had a barnstormer with chisora prior to that browne fight. I m not whytes biggest fan by any means....but he gave joshua his first real fight. Had joshua going and put up a decent showing considering all we,d ever seen was joshua smashing everybody up within 3 rounds prior. Then has a barnstormer with chisora...then knocked browne out before taking on the guy ranked 3rd or 4th in the world at the time in parker and actually beats him. I dont quite get the argument. We could maybe say that if he went on to lose against the higher level than browne but hes went on to beat the higher level...so maybe sky were justified in selling him. That only works if he went on to get beat from everyone else surely.
Aj,s been a champion throughout or had immediate rematches to be the champion again the next fight. You cant really blame whyte for other fighters not getting fights tho. Hes been fighting well ranked guys. You cant really say you cant get the fight because we,ve got another guy who,s not fighting ranked guys. I,ll give you a clue why a lot of these guys arent fighting ranked guys.....they dont want to take short money for tough fights. The very thing everyones against whyte for doing regarding fury. Agree the games broken. Takes me back to the argument about ppv,s. No one is financially backing any fights that dont make good money. Hence why good heavyweights have horrible resumes for years its only till recently parker, chisora, whyte, joshua have built up consistant decent names in comparison to others using ppv. My argument is the game will never really move until someone properly funds it. No one will...and its simply a choice between the fans do it or its just more of the same. Joyce, hrgovic etc just waiting around till a shot comes up a lot of the time too late.
You really are not getting my point That marketed him as a product with those two points Sure he had a bit of success inbetween but its how he was sold to the genral. Public
Still got more than twenty percent against klitchko. Klitchko was a champion for ten years....had five belts for six years consecutively. Fury has only ever defended his belts once. Whytes built up a decent following in the uk. Around 500,000 ppv,s each for parker and chisora 2. No ones saying 50/50. But no mandated challenger should be getting 20 percent these organisations are meant to be running the sport. It shows the very corruption every boxing fan should be against. Should be a minimum 70/30 regardless of who the challenger is as long as hes been mandated fairly by actually beating other ranked challengers. The holder can then drop the belt. The problems always been they want the cash cows. I dont understand how any real boxing fan who all regularly complain about the corruption of the organisations btw...suddenly decide their allright. Oh wait eddie hearns fighters the challenger....hard to take it seriously. Would be better if you all came on and said your posts we,re heavily biased because you hate all things eddie hearn. Thats fair enough...i dont mind hearn...imo he,s done great for british boxing... but totally against some of the things that go on hes involved in. But come on man its the same every time. If the shoe was on the other foot and fury wss a hearn fighter....the 20 percent would suddenly be a derisory offer.
Couldn’t care what channel he’s on but what a pleasure Alvarez is. He’s constantly fighting the best in whatever weight class he chooses.
It's rumoured that former British, Commonwealth, European and World Featherweight champion Kid Galahad may be returning on the March 12th Nottingham show.
