Tuckers two fights previous were Poiret and swindell. Pulevs two fights beforehand we,re joey abell and perkovic. Are they honestly reasons to be mandated. You could see why taking say the 25 percent wasnt all that bad. But fighting chisora twice, parker, rivas, povetkin twice, helenius and wach gets you even less at 20 percent.
The names you envisage Hrgovic or Joyce being offered 20% against. You're asking whether they should fight big names for 20%. It depends on who these names are and how much the fight is likely to generate. Not all 20%s are equal.
Pulev and Tucker had decent names on the record. You're talking about their previous two fights. Whyte was lights out to the world two fights ago. Your efforts to big up Whyte's record starts off quite average with "Chisora twice" and hits a brick wall when you elect to mention "Wach", but yeah there are a couple of good names somewhere in between.
Agree with all but Pulev's record is hollow. Before Klitschko his best names are 42 year old Tony Thompson, Ustinov and Dimitrenko. Absolutely pitiful. Whyte definitely has better wins on his record than Pudding Pulev, but that doesn't mean that he should be entitled to more than 20%. I can't believe bbjc says he would not take 30% if he were Whyte. He is up against a legend in Fury, despite fanboys like Brixton and Scissors insisting that he needs to beat more cans like Molina, Takam, Breazeale, Martin, Pulev, Paint Dry etc to prove it.
Lets say chisora and luis ortiz. Take twenty percent let chisora and ortiz have the eighty percent. Both them cant get a look in atm. Why are they not getting stick for not taking the twenty percent and getting a decent fights on.
The same could be said of fury...the guy thats getting 80 percent. A couple of good names in between the rest being average. Tucker fought tyson 7 years beforehand btw. Came back and fought soft opposition for years before getting that lewis fight. Whyte got bingo,d then avenged his defeat. He was winning that first fight then got clocked. Can happen to anyone at heavyweight. He avenged it the very next fight....povetkin was good in that first fight but a wreck in the second one. Thats not really on dillian tho. He took the immediate rematch to his credit. Not really his fault that covid had wrecked povetkin.
Personally I feel 25% is very good and fair for Whyte. Even 20% would be HUGE. Whyte draws well in the UK. But that might have peaked a couple of years ago. But he's not necessarily any kind of special draw outside of the UK Fury's not the next coming of Ali, far from it. But people need to face reality, he's a much bigger worldwide figure than Whyte is.
30 percent would be the lowest i would take for that fight. I m a big fan of furys btw...and dont really like dillian. But fury doesnt deserve 80 percent. He beat a 40 year old wlad then retired. Fought unranked guys....then beat wilder who everyone says is useless. I dont agree with that tbf. But taking the names out the equation...no one should be fighting mandatories after mandatories...paying sanctioning fees each time to then end up with 20 percent. No real boxing fan should be agreeing with that. Its basically corruption. You,ve to jump through so many hoops to get there to make the champion 80 percent. Thats never a fair scenario in most right thinking peoples mindset. 20 percent is pretty low for someone like pulev or tucker who got it off the back of beating nobodies in the three fights leading up to their title shots. Furys not even a massive seller anyway...put him in with helenius next on ppv and see how he does.
Because 20% isn't much of those fights, beating Chisora and Ortiz wouldn't do an awful lot for them. Agit Kabayel beat Chisora, FFS, and I doubt he's reaping huge rewards. And Chisora and Ortiz are on the decline, physically and commercially. You're talking about "20%" as it it's an actual amount of money, rather than a percentage. 20% of AJ fight is a lot of money. 20% of Fury fight is a lot of money. 20% of Usyk is probably a good amount too. Hrgovic or Joyce would be doing well to be on that kind of money.
Fury is champion. He's coming off some big paydays. He's got some world wide mainstream recognition. He was beating Klitschko in Germany while Whyte was making a minor name for himself getting smashed by a young AJ in a British title fight. Fury is established, and now a recognised commodity in America. I thought he faced a couple of decent contenders like Norris and McCall in that time, who were at least as good as some of these 'killers' Whyte's getting hyped up for fighting. Yeah and Fury's made a lot of fans by getting up off the deck in bigger fights against bigger puncher. Povetkin looked pretty much shot to **** in the first fight too. Most of us noted that. Povetkin looked well past against Hunter too. Regardless, I can't see how anyone would not see that Fury's accomplishments and fights in the last couple of years against Wilder have outshone anything Whyte can be credited with, by magnitudes.
Fury is the current WBC Champion but he has literally spent the majority of his career going the WBO route. Remember when Dillian Whyte fought for and won and then defended: The WBC international title in 2016 The WBC eliminator in 2016 The WBC Silver title in 2017 The WBC interim title and final eliminator in 2019 The WBC interim title again in 2021 The WBC don't. Ridiculous that this guy has been paying sanctioning fees for years and the WBC are going to stiff him with 20% Honestly, can't believe British boxing fans are defending this crap.
