Not really understanding the stick Warrington is getting for this. He went through a full camp for an immediate rematch with Lara which lasted all of 2 rounds thanks to a bad cut to Lara Why put his career on hold and wait around for months for Lara's cut to get the green light when in the mean time he can get out and be active................. even more so when a very winnable world title opportunity against Kiko has presented itself. He's doing what anyone else in his situation would do.
Not knocking him taking the Martinez fight, it's the fact he vacated this belt for 'the bigger fights' and now wants it back. It was clearly to avoid Galahad as soon as Galahad is out the picture he suddenly wants the IBF belt back.
He vacated with the idea he'd take Can Xu's title and then head to the USA given that Galahad cannot draw a penny......... the Xu fight got sacked off and he ended up fighting Lara as a tick over, which ended in disaster. The bigger fights are currently off the table and he wants to put the Lara fight right..... but he can't put his career on hold for Lara while waiting for the cut to heal So the next biggest fight out there and the one that makes the most sense... is Kiko in a world title So beat Kiko then go into the trilogy fight with Lara with a world title fight on the line making it an even bigger fight. He'd also be beating the guy who just knocked Galahad spark out lol
Not true - they announced they were fighting Lara for the belt (he magically appeared in the top 15 of the IBF rankings) with the intention of fighting Can Xu after. It's only when the IBF said he'd have to fight Galahad after Lara that they vacated. Can Xu was an unknown Chinese fighter who held a regular belt. Nobody is vacating their belt purely for that fight. This content is protected

That was at 5 weeks notice. Can xu pulled out of that date and they picked lara. Can xu would of been for the ring belt ibf and his regular title. When lara was announced kid appealed to the ibf which was his right to and they enforced the mandatory not allowing jw lara for the title. I'm sure bent nose will clarify that regards to kids position at the time.
I'm pretty sure Lara was ranked in the IBF top 15. But Kiko Martinez sure as hell wasn't in Galahads first defence! He was the one who mysteriously suddenly appeared in the rankings! And look what happened there. Some people were hyping Can Xu at the time, they wanted that fight to be upgraged for the WBA super title. Easy to dismiss him now . But I recall people at the time saying Warrington vs Can would be a good exciting fight, talking about how Can throws a record number of punches per round, and saying Leigh Wood had no chance against him.

He then fought a few weeks later at super featherweight against a lad who was 28-10 and had lost 8 of his last 9 before appearing in the featherweight top 15 in January (days before the Warrington fight was announced).
Barry's position at the time was mandatory challenger. He informed Hearn he was prepared to fight Warrington at short notice but Hearn told him that Warrington would not fight him.
But kid went to the ibf to enforce the mandatory position meaning jw had to vacate to fight lara is the point im making.
He didn't have to go anywhere. Warrington had until November to fight someone else and had to fight his mandatory by the end of February. It was that common knowledge that there was a thread on it on here from October. It was a shame that yourself, @Wizbit1013 and JW's bit on the side chose to ridicule it.
