Would be interesting to see whose brand is number 1 in Britain, by the end of 2023!

Who would you consider a megastar out of interest?

I don`t think Broner is a household name, Khan was well known to a lot of casuals in the UK though, "I am a celebrity get me out of here".

Well obviously because AJ would be fighting at 4am in the USA and Fury would be fighting at 10pm in the UK lol....

    What a strange comparison

Why not compare them both at 10pm UK time ?

I can't see Frank being close to number 1 or 2. His TV deal situation isn't even stable at present with the talks of DAZN buying BT sport.

In two years time Boxxer will be right on Matchrooms coat tails but it will be atleast 2024/2025 before any of their top prospects are even close to a title shot.

Matchroom need to invest big and splash the cash if they want to compete with Boxxer who are very aggressive and ambitious right now.

You basically said it’s a bigger event when AJ fights compared to Fury, might point was only because Fury is normally fighting at unsociable hours vs. AJ at prime time.

I very much agree. Boxxer / Sky Sports will be a serious competitor to DAZN / Matchroom, and I think Boxxer / Sky will lead that race within 3 years. By the way : I´ve heard that Boxxer / Sky Sports soon will be announcing new deals.

I don't disagree with either of you, but the elephant in the room is Probellum.

I'm not for a second suggesting that they'll be the top UK promoter any time soon.

I am very much suggesting that they will hoover talent up with their - shall we say - bottomless laundry basket of money.

The net effect will see them either signing boxers currently signed to Queensberry and Matchroom, or at the very least force Queensberry, Matchroom and Boxxer to pay well over the odds to retain / sign new fighters.

I agree with you and have also heard that Probellum has held talks with both Terrence Crawford and Deontay Wilder as well as other boxers from the world elite. They have so much money that it is incomprehensible, BUT If you are a UK boxer and would like to reach out to the general population and become a familiar face then Sky is the obvious choice.

Interesting. @Trafford mentioned a while ago his guess that Fury would decamp there after his Top Rank / Queensberry contract ends.

MTK are a very big management company - they have a LOT of boxers - and while I'm just a fan with no sources, they seem to engender a huge loyalty from their fighters. I was concerned to see Sunny Edwards end up taking his first title defence on a Probellum card with almost nobody watching.

Probellum is an interesting one, they are not focusing on the UK so I'm not sure they will get enough momentum to overtake the others but they certainly have deep pockets and good connections. The massive concern that will stunt their growth is that they have no TV deal.

No, Fury only became a big name after beating Wilder, AJ has been big since turning pro after winning gold, far more people saw AJ beat Wlad than Fury beating Wlad.

This place is bananas. Nobody actually cares about fights. They care about “brands” or the TV Channels more.
