Apart from the lazy comment I dont really see an issue with what he has said. Ben takes alot of stick and his inexperience is always thrown in his face. Sometimes a fresh approach and new ways are a good thing.

    He's an interesting one Davison.
Is there some truth in what he's saying?
He certainly loves the camera and attention more than most trainers.

He's doing something right, certainly in the short term with fighters. No evidence of long term though or correct me if I'm wrong I don't belive he's ever produced/guided a fighter from scratch.

Let's see where he is in 5 - 10 years time.

He over-complicates. It won’t work with a not-already-established fighter. Remember fighters aren’t pHDs or Mensa entrants.

Freddie Roach says he was too defensive in the first Wilder fight. And Kronk Fury just ****ed him up, basically.

Only about 28 though isn't he so he won't have had the time to guide anyone from scratch to a good level yet. He's recently picked up some young fighters & fighters who hadn't fought pro at the time so he has the chance now.

To me it seems like he got where he is through his connections at MTK as opposed to hard work. And just about every fighter he's worked with was already established / a good fighter before they linked up. I don't think he's genuinely improved any of them ability-wise.

Credit where it's due for the Fury weight loss saga though

I think he’s 29 but in his defence he’s been in the boxing public eye since he was about 26.

That’s a young age to be in the limelight in a very unforgiving sport, especially as he comes across as being not that well educated. I can understand his defensiveness, even if it comes across as immature.

Opportunist. Very close friends with BJS (to some that tells you all you need to know).
Credit where it's due he was thrust into a very prominent position because he was a friend/companion and he's running with it now.

The highest profile trainers in this country are a funny bunch. Booth is just plain odd, Coldwell has a huge central heating bill each month, Gallagher, Ingle…
Boxercise Ben has ideas well above his station but good luck to him, I don’t mind him too much he’s just a bit egocentric

Like him or not he's had a great year and that team he's put together definitely know their onions.

Personally I always rated him pre-Ben despite that loss to Jazza. Never wanted to give Penfold any credit either to be fair haha
