Boxing is an embarrassment. We can’t even get Fury-Whyte made. Never got to see AJ-Wilder. Will probably never get to see Fury-AJ. What’s the ****ing point?
Agreed. Tyson will fight Helenius, claim he'd wipe the floor with Uysk, fall apart, then come back for a 4th Wilder fight in 2028.
Ive just stopped caring. It used to really annoy me but ive become so disillusioned with boxing i just find it funny now. Watching fans argue over shite is even funnier.
Whyte hasn't fought at all since March 27th last year. Now it seems he would rather go through arbitration than take a fight. If he does get to accept the Fury fight, it's likely he would have been out of the ring over a year by that time. It's stupid.
Let’s just have the battle of the purse bids and just not bother with the fight? Who ever gets the bigger split wins the fight. I honestly couldn’t care less what either fighter is making. All I know is that they are both going to make a fortune. Can’t they just make an agreement who ever wins gets the higher percentage? Is it really that hard? These top guys should have fought each other 2-3 over already. We should be talking about the Fury-AJ trilogy. It’s pathetic.
Some people say "the fights won't get made with PPV money" when discussing why guys like Whyte and Chisora headline PPV shows on SKY. But look at what it results in. The narrative now becomes "Whyte can't be expected to fight for the world heavyweight championship for only £X millions". It's a joke. You have guys like Whyte acting like divas, demanding silly money. That just pushes the egos of legitimate world class fighters like Fury to silly levels too, so Fury's expecting £XX million to fight anyone. Even guys no one wants to see. Far from ensuring fights get made, the PPV model prevents some of the fights happening because so many fighters end up expecting too much.
I'm not going to trawl through your post history, but I'm absolutely positive that previously you said - if you're being honest - Fury would beat Whyte and that stylistically Fury was a bad match up for Whyte. Now the fight could actually happen you've changed your opinion it seems. That's fine of course, but why is this?
Yep spot on. They are both over valuing themselves. This really shouldn’t be a difficult fight to make. Not that I think Whyte has much of a chance but I’d still watch it.
Boxing is an absolute mess and it's going to get worse. Mediocre fighters expecting huge paydays. Top fighters fighting once a year. World champions with 13 pro fights being lauded as all-time greats. Fraudulent weigh ins. PED hypocrisy and cover ups. Women boxing. YouTubers. Mike Tyson doing exhibition on PPV. 59 year old Holyfield getting KO'd by a 44 year old MMA guy. Mayweather versus McGregor, Mayweather versus YouTubers, Mayweather versus Japanese kid. Tommy Fury. Campbell Hatton. Conor Benn: "Pay per view baby!" Saudi Arabia. Bob Arum, 903 years old. V Eddie "Son of" Hearn. 4 "major" world titles in each division. 18 divisions. ,"Bridgerweight" Interim Silver Diamond Mayan Intercontinental Regular Super belt. "Pound for Pound" TBE GOAT PPV
You have a monthly Direct Debit set up straight from your account to Dereck Chisora's, so your opinion doesn't count.
"CHISORA APPEAL FUND" appears on your monthly bank statements. Occasionally David Haye will phone up to ask you to consider increasing your monthly donation.
If I could like this post 20 times I would... The current state of affairs in the HW division has gone beyond a joke now and is verging on farce and comedy. Politics, greed, corruption, self interest and frustrating and opaque practices within organizations/governing bodies all mean that fights simply don't have or happen years too late. Usually the first sadly.
