Who wins if prime Marvin Hagler had to go up in weight to challenge Canelo for his undisputed Super Middleweight status?
I feel like the Marvelous one would out-score Canelo to a decision by possibly out-boxing him in the beginning and then moving in in the later rounds. Hagler's jab would be the key to victory. I don't know about you, but I always see these h2h fantasy matchups usually as 15-rounders, because I think that's the distance where champions are made and where stamina matters more while not going too extreme. Over 15 is also too much, but I do understand if someone thinks automatically 12-rounders when talking about fantasy matchups. Canelo would slow down in the later rounds and Hagler would take full advantage of that (even if the fight was indeed 12-rounds of boxing). If Canelo wanted war with Marvin, well... lets just say he's talking to the RIGHT man.
It's at 168 lbs - Hagler was a lean, optimum fighter, coming in under 160 lbs at the weigh in. Hagler didn't fight at 175 lbs and whilst Hagler is greater, a heavier, tainted beef eating Canelo can show him things.
He won't "show him" anything he'd be big though. Saul and Hagler are separated by several league's in boxing ability Canelo's saving grace here is on fight night he'd be an overstuffed middleweight.
Duran showed Hagler things - I don't think Canelo's in Hagler's league, but I do think Hagler contending with a heavier fighter that is skilled and can punch well to the body makes Hagler have to readjust every now and then - hence, shows him things.
The Hagler that dismantled Sibson fights Canelo in a 15 round contest. Marvins jab busts up Canelo with regularity and Canel can't hurt Marvin. The only question is does Canelo go the distance and I kinda doubt it.
Clenelos best win at 168lbs is a 31 year old ballooned middleweight in BJS whose best win is David Lemieux who had 3 loses prior to their fight Hagler beats Clen, roids or no roids, 160lbs or 168lbs
