End of April in MSG. The female WBA (12th defense of Taylor), IBF (10th defense of Taylor), WBO (6th defense of Taylor), and WBC & The Ring magazine (5th defense of each by Taylor) female lightweight titles on the line. The challenger is a seven division world champion, a feat unprecedented among fellow women or Puerto Ricans. She will be the 5th southpaw Taylor faces in the pros, including Amanda's own sister Cindy "Checkmate" Serrano. Taylor beat the older sibling via shutout to defend her first two unified belts at 135lbs, nearly 3½ before "The Real Deal" attempts to make history and exact familial revenge in one fell swoop.
I'd like to see her wearing an Elven costume that was literally just ears. Maybe a tiara. Green boots. That'll do it.
Common opponents: Miriam Gutiérrez Parra - lost via UD10 against Taylor in November of 2020 and lost via UD10 once more against Serrano thirteen months later. Kimberly Ann Connor-Hamby - lost via TKO3 against Serrano in 2011, and via TKO2 against Taylor seven years later.
Btw, the reason this isn't up on BoxRec yet is Eddie Hearn is still finalizing it ...but venue (the Garden itself, not the little Hulu theater) and date are locked down and per multiple sources this should be officially announced soon.
This year could be the year women's boxing comes alive. Potentially Taylor-Serrano, Shields-Marshall, Meyer-Baumgardner etc.. It's quite exciting. I fancy Taylor to edge it in a close fight. I don't think Serrano has the volume of Persoon, nor does she have the devastating power of McCaskill that troubled Taylor. Obviously Serrano can punch but Taylor knows that and will respect her accordingly. I think Serrano will have her moments, but Taylor will be too busy. Other than McCaskill I don't recall Katie ever being truly hurt in a bad way so I don't see a stoppage. We also have to take into account that the women aren't as hard hitters as the men and the women's game tends to be more of a battle of attrition.
Taylor wins this. She won’t fight the way she has done in previous fights like against the Kazakh and Jonas. She’ll respect Serrano’s power and stick to her boxing. She’ll end up winning 7-3 97-93.
A tough-to-call, and debated/controversial, narrow points win for one of them. Maybe even a draw. Ill vote for the draw. If that werent allowed, I think I will prefer Serrano but the judges go Taylor.
The true GWOAT and there will be zero ambiguity regarding who the GWOAT is after this match up This content is protected
And the male GOAT Jake ''Money'' Paul of MVP (Most Valuable Promotions) deserves a huge round of applause for his tireless work and sacrifice for making this happen
You're right. The chick that made an opponent look like a resident of the Cthulhu Mansion will be the unambiguous undisputed GWOAT. This content is protected
This will be the fight that, years later, it will be said that Taylor finally looked old. Serrano by KO.
