Several reasons obviously Povetkins 1 punch KO power, but if that was the the only reason then a lot more would have beaten Bowe, them other reasons being that Bowe was predictable in his jabbing and defence, he refused to feint and he often threw lazy jabs, something we seen Holyfield exploit over and over again and something Povetkin will punish you to death and Povetkin hit much harder than Holyfield. We seen Povetkin do this at 39 years of age against Joshua for several rounds countering him over a lazy jab, IMO he would KO Joshua in his prime, but back to the topic, as I said Bowe is predictable with his jabbing and Povetkin is not predictable with how he enters inside
Inside punching range that is, sometime he will counter straight over the jab with a right and sometime he will duck and sometimes he will duck and come with the left hook and Bowe had a tendency to go flat footed, go slow and lazy and get hit clean, something that if he did against Povetkin he would get put unconscious, Povetkin was always focused on how he could knock you out or land, he never got lazy

In heavyweight boxing almost anyone can get knocked out by one punch.
But I promise you if it comes down to the ability to take a shot and keep going Bowe beats Pov down and bad.
What also you fail to understand is that for a big man Bowe was pretty good on the inside.

That would have been some fight. Really would have been close. I don’t like the matchup for Bowe…can’t see him doing great against the best swarmers ever w power.

I don’t mean at close range, I mean Povetkin countering over Bowe’s predictable and often lazy jab which we seen Holyfield so lots and like I said Povetkin punches a lot harder than Holyfield, Povetkin is technically better than Bowe and doesn’t switch off, Bowe often gets caught with punches he shouldn’t and gets hit clean in the process, I could also see Povetkin throwing a left hook and Bowe, instead of stepping back, lazily putting his hands up and not in the right way and getting caught on the jaw round the side, Bowe often got lazy with a lot of things, his punching, his defensive movements and had a lethargic look in fights and switched off all the time, and Povetkin could set something up whilst he is switched off and lethargic

I agree and Povetkin is good technically, Bowe often went lethargic in fights with his punches and defensive movements, things you really can’t afford to do against a sharp explosive 1 punch KO artist like Povetkin who can also set up KO punches, and when you are lethargic and switched off you can easily be set up for big punches as you make mistakes when you are lethargic
You have to stay sharp and alert against someone like Povetkin

Wouldn't Bowe KO the **** out of Povetkin? Dillian White gave Povetkin hell.

The 2nd fight with Whyte that you are referring to was literally Povetkin's final fight of his career and he was in his 40's. The 2012 version was much better but with that said, I would still take a prime Bowe over Povetkin but not by much.

The best Bowe would beat down Povetkin as it went on.

Anything is possible. I think it would be a fan’s type of fight with back and forth action. Either guy could win

Think the better way of phrasing this is wasn’t Povetkin over forty when he knocked out Whyte? He also had COVID a week or two prior to the second fight which didn’t help I’m sure.

It wouldn’t be that easy even if Bowe were to come away with the victory, Povetkin isn’t just gonna let Bowe throw whatever he wants, Bowe is often there to be hit after he throws, holds his feet and often gets hit clean, Povetkin would earn that respect, he would definitely counter Bowe’s jab as he throws it lazily a lot and Povetkin has power so Bowe is t gonna just walk through Povetkin, if Bowe tried to just walk Povetkin down, he would at least be dropped even if he went on to win and that would be through him realising that ‘beating him down’ isn’t the right gameplan

Bowe as a pro was much more successful then Pov was.
Holyfield hands down is a much better boxer the Pov.
    And it isn't even close.
And you saw what Bowe did to him.
Bowe stood 6'5 and had about an 80 inch reach.
    Pov is what 6'2 ?
Does Pov have good power? Yes he does but not like a Bowe.

I didn't say it would be easy nor "beating him down" would be a game plan. Beating down someone, late as i insinuate isn't a game plan it's a result. It doesn't mean coming forward and slugging as such.

You are looking at all the Bowe negatives and all of Povetkins positives. Bowe is an extremely formidable offensive machine and i personally cannot see Povet beating him. Could it be tougher than i envision? Absolutely but i still like Bowe.

I like this thread because it discusses actual technical specifics, unlike so many other threads like it.

Bowe aint no Marco Huck or Cream puff Eddie Chambers who both gave Povetkin hell...........Bowe aint no glass chinned Bodybuilder who sent Povetkin packing....

Povetkin has not ONE win against any significant opposition, could not even pick a alphabet trinket in bad Heavyweight times.

Was ragdooled like a child by another glass chinned fighter in WK. who he avoided for years hiding in Russia claiming "he is not ready"

The irony is that he was stopped by a stiff packing pure china Bodybuilder who in his very next fight spit his mouth piece out and quit against a morbid obese Taco stand owner.....

Povetkin is one of the most over hyped fighters on the forums but in real life he accomplished absolute Jack.

    Prime Bowe by Murder.
