I know alot of people make fun of his technique and some of his deficiencies or his lack of resume but in terms of head to head fighting he gets underrated. He's got legit 1 punch knockout power (like end the fight power) which is a term that gets overused by many cause most fighters who have "1 punch knockout power" really don't. Along with the great stamina (before the weight gain for the 3rd Fury fight) a good chin and a huge heart. I think he would have beaten some of the older champions in history and would've knocked out AJ if they fought in 2018 or 2019
IMO, his H2H "results" are pretty weak as is, and what I look at. Especially considering his: age title defenses
Definitely went from overrated to underrated and now we may be swinging back the other way. The problem for him is what could he even do to prove himself? There are several super entertaining matchups, but what would beating Ruiz (if he can) do for him besides a paycheck that's smaller than the ones he's already gotten? I used to assume he was going to disappear after his first loss and he's proven me wrong there. Maybe there are more good surprises.
Only Tyson Fury can defeat Deontay Wilder Wilder has the most explosive right hand in history by far, easily. Dude will hit you from halfway across the ring in the blink of an eye with a nuclear bomb, it's not fair. I'm excited to see his magic trick yet again for his comeback fight this year. All these other opponents will be a breeze after having wrestled with a 270 pound gorilla for 30+ rounds.
No its actually overrated considering what I've read on here. The reality is that his resume is far too weak to put him head to head against the best
Head to head ability? Out boxed by an old Ortiz twice until he landed a KO punch and was lucky in fight 1 that ref gave him extra time to recover. Out boxed by journeymen Washington until Washington's weak chin gave out. Took longer to beat a faded Arreola than Stiverne did and even then Arreola wasn't actually KO'ed. Rocked by Molina and took longer to KO Molina than the other 7 people that have stopped him. Took almost twice as many rounds to stop Duhaupas than Povetkin would need. Beaten by a sub par Fury not once but twice. His KO power is legit but his head to head ability doesn't look great based on his actual performances, too easily out boxed and too often struggles vs weak comp like Washington, Molina and Szpilka. That isn't what I would expect from a head to head monster.
Broke his hand early doors then just jib jabbed stiverne all over the joint. & was blinded by a stretching band in one eye pre fight, yes he said this
Nah. You need more than a right hand.. Fury wasn't even fit for two of the fights and still clowned him. Also without fighting ANY of the top guys it's impossible to gauge how he would do. I'm critical of Wilder because half the people on here completely overrate that power which when ineffective against Fury he had nothing else to get him out of trouble. Someone like Lewis would just walk him down and spark him like he did Grant but probably quicker.
People seem to either massively overrate him, or massively underrate him. The reality H2H wise, is probably somewhere in the middle, probably wins some on account of his right hand KO power, probably loses some due to poor defence and lack of fundamentals allowing for some the top guys in the division to get to him before he gets to them.
