Why did Pacquiao refuse random drug testing for the Mayweather fight in 2010?

That was just a dig at Haymon. He advised Kid Chocolate against a title shot. And another boxer, can't remember name. Obviously those two are above titles.

Promoters have enormous power, you know? Look at how much Arum took from Pac. Look at Frank Warren with Joe Calzaghe, intentionally getting him to sign stuff when he was drained and making **** fights when Calzaghe wanted everyone. Look at Don King and how he robbed Mike Tyson in particular.

    Wake up lads.

Floyd said he waited until the time was right to fight Pac.

Floyd repeatedly boasts about having the right to pick and choose during his career.

Ross Greenburg said that Floyd walked away from the fight.

You're just in serious denial now.

When a fighter leaves his promoter like that, of course he can pick and choose. You don’t understand why he’s proud of that? It was huge in boxing, an exploitative industry.

**** Ross Greenburg, he’s just one of those guys who, when you come across his LinkedIn page, you want to vomit. **** the suits.

What ‘denial’? I think the fight didn’t happen because of Arum, not Pac. If you’re a fan of Arum, then you’re no true fan of Pac.

Why did he refuse the extra testing? We can all speculate and maybe Pac didn't even have a good reason. Maybe he didn't want to too because he was doping, maybe he didn't want to because he didn't want Mayweather to dictate terms in negotiations. Fact is it was the major sticking point that killed the fight, whatever the reasons it's why it didn't happen or at least it seems that way.

But you also have to ask why did Mayweather ask for extra testing? Why was this fight different? Some will say because Mayweather wanted an excuse to not take the fight while looking like he wanted it, some will even speculate Mayweather was projecting and he himself was doping and that's the only way he could explain Pac's performances. Whatever his reasons for what was then an unheard of requirement it was the sticking point that killed the fight.

So who killed the fight, Pac refusing extra testing a then unprecedented requirement, or Mayweather asking for the extra testing? Depends which side you fall on, if you're pro Pac or pro Mayweather. Honestly I no longer care and we're left with the legacy of the best fight of our era not happening when it mattered but also better standard of testing in boxing than before, but still far worse than many other professional sports.

Right. Floyd chose to fight Pac once he deemed Pac was passed his prime enough to take the risk.

Ross Greenburg was the then head of HBO Sports. Floyd was still an HBO fighter and didn't go to Showtime until 2013 — 2 years after the second round of negotiations. As neutral a party as can be. And he didn't take sides. He just said Floyd turned down the fight.

Arum's a money-hungry promoter. He envisioned a trilogy between Pac and Floyd. He wanted the fight badly, but as I demonstrated w/ facts and quotes, Floyd ducked Pac.

Floyd said that Ali shouldn't have fought Norton, Clenelo should avoid Golovkin, and Ward should avoid Kovalev. This is important — don't dismiss it — because it gives you insight to how Floyd played his hand when he was an active fighter.

    Floyd ducked Pac. End of.

magarito's pacquiao (2010) was roided to the grills. He was glowing in the fight vs margo, he was freaking radioactive. 1300 punches and still completely fresh, unbeliveable, one of the most brutal displays of physical power I've ever witnessed, he completly destroyed margo by pure physical power and workrate. That fight is completely amazing. No way in hell he would have passed all test controls in this moment of his career.

And of course mayweather (like anyone with half a brain) knew it, that's why he insisted.

Allow me to clarify. Pac never refused random drug testing. They disagreed on the cut off window. There's precedence for this. There's a 12 year old video of Pac saying he felt weakened by having his blood drawn very close to the Erik Morales fight.

And given the fact that Floyd refused VADA testing and ended up being the one violating WADA code w/ illegal IVs... shows you it was never about drug testing.

While this might be true, making the accusation that Mayweather did, which resulted in a lawsuit Pac WON, sure as hell didn't help.

Maybe had floyd presented the idea of testing, like a pro, Pac's team may have responded differently.

Jesus Soto-Karass threw 1,848 punches against Macias.

Margarito threw 1,675 punches against Clottey.

Chris Arreola threw 1,125 punches and Whyte threw 1,112.

    Punch volume = roids?
