A prime Tua is a handfull. I think if Wilder was more skilled and adept at fighting on the back foot he would school Tue but he isn't. Also people comparing Tua to Stiverne is laughable and just factually wrong. Tua by KO but could be behind on the cards beforehand.
That last left hook...... I'm amazed it didn't cause Ruiz permanent damage, absolutely ****ing brutal! My take on this is: if Tua catches Wilder clean just once, Wilder is in trouble whereas Tua has a head like an Easter Island monument and twice as hard. A motivated and on fire Tua is all wrong for Wilder and as much heart as Wilder has displayed in recent bouts, I still question his punch resistance and stamina. The likes of Tua, Mercer, Ibeabuchi and any number of teak tough brawlers from the 90's would be like Wilders Kryptonite. Today, the HW scene is full of either tubs of lard or athletes whereas in the 80's and 90's, the HW division was full of genuine Street tough hard men and killers. I may be being overly nostalgic but, Wilder would have come unstuck far sooner if he had been competing in the 90's and would have been lucky to pick up the still fledgling WBO belt, let alone the WBC and numerous defences against largely mediocre opposition.
I'm kind of amazed how people think ,,,Wilder will out box someone? I don't think he can back up Tua and as you say box off his back foot and sooner or later Tua gets in position due to Wilder's laughable footwork and he lands a crushing hook to the body or head and Wilder falls. I expect him to get up,,, then he's executed, brutally.
A prime in shape and motivated Tua is a nightmare for Wilder just like Mike Tyson would have been to.
I agree I think the issue is the Wilder v Fury fights flattered Wilder overall. In the first fight Fury was cautious and coming back after a lay off and abusing his body but still managed to outbox Wilder pretty easily and was then robbed in the decision The second fight is the only fight that Fury was in half decent shape and the first and only time in his career where he was truly an offensive fighter. The problem then is the the third fight where Tyson looked like crap and only just got Wilder out of there towards the end. This flatters Wilder when in reality Fury was just very poor that night. Someone like Lewis would have done Wilder in a round or two. Fury's ability to finish is actually pretty poor looking at those three fights. failing to capitalise on opportunities made. Wilder simply hasn't fought anyone else of note and I don't count Kong either for exactly the same reason.
Wilder's sad defence and plodding footwork are gonna see him in deep trouble. Tua has a great chin whereas there are a few question marks about Wilder's. DW is going to have to string together a series of apocalyptic punches through the grace of God, otherwise I think Tua walks him down, forces the fight at a close range and destroys him.
Stick to synchronized woman swimming.................. Tua was a zero Ring IQ plodder who was out boxed by absolute ham and eggers like Wooden/Izom/ Oleg M etc etc he lucked out late when they got tired and cracked their glass chins except Wooden who got robbed. Once you stick a jab into Tua"s face he is done.............glass cannon Rahman did until the late punch and a over protective referee. Facking feather fist Chris Byrd punked him..,... Tua's "granite " chin tasted a couple of right hands form Lewis ,did the silent agreement and went home to Mommy in one of the dullest Heavyweights fight ever..... Tua's claim to fame was going toe to toe with green unproven prospect named Ike who went off the rails big time afterward and never ever proved a thing....but could would should All those sub par fighters he beat like Ruiz/Oleg/rahman picked up a belt but Tua could not while sitting at the buffet 24/7 getting fat.. Wilder by loopsided decision like the first Stiverne fight.
Yeah Tua is nothing like Stiverne. Stiverne was in essence a counter puncher, he was at his best when guys came at him like Arreola because he wasn't very agile. While Tua could be out boxed his style unlike Stiverne was to press and cut off the ring so he'd have tools Stiverne lacked to cut off the ring and get in close to land, such as his head movement to slip jabs, his ability to come in low, body punches and leaping left hooks.
Why do you always bring up the Arreola fight? Yea Ruiz got dropped and rocked but it’s no big deal. He won every round after that and Arreola has KO power and looked great in his previous fight. Parker also beats Tua. Btw, I don’t like Ruiz and never rated him highly.
Because Ruiz is overrated for his win over Aj. Yeah Tua is overrated as well but he's better than Ruiz
No he isn’t, Tua was very limited, slow, and fought really lazy. He also wasn’t indestructible, if someone had respectable power Tua would curl up and take less risk.
