Why 1986? Leonard fought Hagler at middleweight in 1987 after a three year retirement. Leonard was in his prime at welterweight late 70s to 1982. If you're going to make a fantasy fight, why not both in their primes? Leonard stops Floyd had they been both been around at the same era. Also Floyd's "shoulder roll" would not fend off Duran, Hearns, or Pryor either. They would be all over him.

You are correct. I was hasty and didn't choose the best Sugar Ray .IMHO SRL was bigger faster and stronger.

How is Mayweather going to outbox Leonard again?
I'm curious as Ray not only matches his speed but Jas a huge edge in power.
Mayweather doesn't have a reach advantage. Nor speed advantage.
Doesn't have the power to keep Ray at bay and does not posses a Thomas Hearns like jab to keep Ray at bay.
Benitez who was a pure boxer couldn't keep Ray off him.
So again what would be Mayweathers advantage in this fight with Ray?

See what pre prime Leonard did to Jr.s daddy for my answer , if they fought at welterweight. Jr. Would have the same career of his daddy at welterweight if he fought during that era.
Its really simple, Welterweight wasn't his best fighting weight. May jr. At jr.light/lightweight would be successful in any era.
He certainly had the best boxing combo of speed, power, and skills at that weight limit.

Mayweather because in 1986 Ray wasn't fighting and by his own account snorting up Peru.

At their respective Welterweight best its Ray Leonard by ownage. He would clowning by the 2nd round. Bigger, faster, better footwork, more firepower, even taller natural Welterweight.

People don't want to accept this but it's not going to look much different than Leonard's fight with Mayweather Sr. Dad was actually a natural 147lber.

I hate Ray Leonard but he was fukin good.

P4P I could see Floyd edging a decision maybe. At Welterweight Carlos Baldomir, Hatton and Judah couldn't have sparred with Ray Leonard. The Truth can sting but it's still the truth.

Ray looped his right hand and other punches, lacked Floyd’s counterpunching, lacked Floyd’s footwork (positioning), did not have the lead right or jab to the body, did not adapt as well as Floyd etc.

Floyd did not just lose to guys who liked to let their hands fly like Pac and Oscar.

Really? Or are you watching a highlight where Leonard vs Hearns? Because Ray didn't throw looping righhands as a habit.
Jab to the body? Really? No lead righthand?
Come on man come up with something real.
Benitez had great counter punching skills did he not?
Pretty sure that was some great footwork I saw Leonard employ vs Hagler.
Matter of fact I would hate to see what Leonard would do to a Marcos Maidiana - it wouldn't go the distance I promise you that.
Actually can you name two fighters that Mayweather beat who approach a Hearns or Duran?
