The top 10 would have to be comprised out of boxers who faced big punchers, AND WERE ACTUALLY hit by those punchers and managed to absorb the punches and fight back. Many people make the mistake of including boxers who were never KOd, despite facing some big punchers, but the problem is many of these boxers that were not KOd managed to achieve that cause they avoided getting hit. Mayweather is the best example. I'm not saying he had a bad chin or anything, but had he been hit flush with a proper power punch by a big puncher, there's a good chance he would have gotten KO'd. Also, is this list about p4p ? Cause if it's not, the list will only be comprised of HWs, since obviously they can withstand a bigger blow than anyone else in the lower categories.
In 3 years and 4 pages the only one that has mentioned Mayweather in here is you so I'm not sure what the actual .... you are talking about. As a matter of fact I've never in my life seen anyone in here claiming Maywaether has a top 10 chin.
Being wrong can get to be a habit, JT, matey. It's like muscle memory. Do it often enough and you autotype a right pile.
You missed the point I was trying to make. In many instances, people mention that boxer A or boxer B had a great chin and if you disagree or simply don't think it was that great, then they refute that by saying boxer A or boxer B were never KO'd. I'm saying that simply may be due to the fact that A and B were not hit flush by big punchers. I simply gave Mayweather as an example to refute their argument, since one having not lost by KO doesn't automatically mean he had a great chin.
I didn't miss the point. It's the Ali agenda all over again with a little bit of Mayweather circumvention
A very underrated chin was that of heavyweight Henry Clark. In his career he fought Sonny Liston, Ken Norton, Earnie Shavers (twice), Mac Foster, Jeff Merritt (twice), Leotis Martin, Zora Folley, Eddie Machen, Howard Smith and Bernardo Mercado. Some great sluggers and some outstanding counter-punchers. He was only stopped by Liston, Norton and Shavers in their rematch, but was never off his feet in his career.
In a way, yes. I believe Ali's chin is vastly overrated. Sure, it was good, but nowhere near as good as some make it out to be. Many on this forum criticize guys like Lewis and say he had a weak chin, yet the punches he was KO'd with would have also KO'd Ali or any other HW for that matter, especially the one Rahman landed on him. I have seen no proof Ali had a better chin than Lewis, and you know I'm no Lewis fan.

Good mention regarding Hopkins in a chin thread no matter where he would actually place top 10 or other. He had a great chin that is usually overlooked. Even after a quarter of a century of pro boxing it was still holding up ok.
