Michael Dokes is WAY too fast for Pov. He would tear him up on his speed alone. And trust Pov has never seen hand speed like that. And again who exactly did Pov beat again?

Here's Louis getting crowded by a hippopotamus that trained on meatballs and beer:

Here's Povetkin going to war close up:

And what ended up happening? He knocked him out.
And Tony was 79- 26 With 57 knockouts.
Pretty rough customer. And guess what he would more then likely beat Pov.
Pov never accomplished anything in the pros.
    His biggest tests he LOST.
One of the worst efforts I have ever seen was when he fought Waldimir. Didn't even try to win did he?
    Just sat there and survived.
At least Tony went in and tried for the win which is alot more then Pov ever did in his career when faced with his best opponent wasn't it?
    Pov was the what if.

So you're conceding the point that Povetkin would be able to crowd Louis? Noted.
Takam had a single loss with wins over Thompson, Perez, Grant and Botha. He weighed 252lb of muscle, not blubber, and was a much rougher customer than Galento.

Your stand up comedy routine is gold.
Wladimir would destroy Louis and Galento on the same night and people would be shocked at how easy it was.

It goes without saying Louis is favourite here - despite the vomit inducing shite posted so far - but I can see Povetkin giving him a good fight. He's got the style and ability to really hammer Louis' body and land good hooks up close. I can even see one dropping Louis. Stranger things have happened.

Ultimately, though; it'd come down to one simple fact, and that's Povetkin would be stood straight in front of the greatest puncher ever. That ain't ending well. Louis would fire three shots in the time it took Povetkin to get close with one, and when they're coming from all angles, at all times, it's only a matter of time.

Old 37 year old Povetkin KOd 6’8 ranked in the top 20 at the time Price in 5 rounds while getting knocked into a corner on the way so he can’t beat Joe Louis, who struggled with 175 pounders? Bizarre logic.

I’m pretty certain bobbing and weaving didn’t become a staple until the 1950s. Also, angles became way more of a focus from the 70s onwards. Look at how much more dynamic angles wise modern fighters are now even vs 80s and even 90s. Not that that means they win every time, but it’s a technical advantage.

Povetkin beat Chagaev, Byrd, Whyte, Rahman, Huck, Perez, etc. Very underrated resume.

I was going to post "Michael Dokes is WAY too fast for Louis. He would tear him up on his speed alone. And trust Louis has never seen hand speed like that. And again who exactly did Louis beat again?" but then I thought the howls of indignation would be too deafening ;)

I'd definitely favor Louis here, but people trying to marginalize Povetkin's resume are ridiculous. He's been one of the best fighters of his generation.

He beat a guy that lost every single professional fight against someone better than a journeyman.
