With all due respect, this hypothetical thread has been done as much as Muhammad Ali vs Mike Tyson, it just causes bad feelings among the posters, I will leave it be.
True, King Carlos Monzon retired as champion, Monzon beat his biggest threat not once but twice (Rodrigo Valdes), their guy (Roy Jones Jr) lost his title, I do not believe in excuses, either you have it or you don't. Antonio Tarver hardly ranks as the best 175 lb champion in history. Different strokes for different folks like Sly And The Family Stone sang.
I am no more interested in another negative Monzon thread than I am another anti-Tunney thread. Without a doubt, the two most underrated GREAT fighters of this forum IMO.
Agreed. I once had a Psych Patient who decided to discuss that hypothetical match as I was conducting Group Therapy in the Mental Health Unit that I was working in, I let him know that it was inappropriate to discuss that fantasy fight.
I listed Monzon and Tunney as the two most underrated great champions....I could also list whom IMO, that I think are the most painfully overrated in this forum too....but in the interests of inter-forum decorum, I won't go into that.
No, I dont' think anyone is angry at you. Just a big of fatigue with this particular fantasy fight. You will stumble across such weirdness here, but no harm no foul, maybe some folks who haven't discussed it 55 times will happen along. 100% within the rules and certainly no reflection on you as a poster.
No problem my friend, just a friendly shout out, the same for the millionth Muhammad Ali vs Mike Tyson thread.
Don't worry about it bud You just have to remember that in starting a worn out thread like that is a lot like eating crackers or cookies in bed...you just have to expect that the crumbs will attract the roaches.
I've never seen this thread before but I cant imagine Roy letting Monzon dictate the pace. looks like a close fight either way
