Tbh I think if Fury and Wilder are the same size, Wilder wins more times than not.

I prefer to use Povetkin era testing because that way, we see both fighters as they actually were. We don't know what a hypothetical roided-to-the-max Povetkin would perform like. Better, probably, but we don't know how much, so it's harder to have a thread about such a scenario.

It has a bearing when we are comparing quality of losses and opponents.

Or, it shows that some people watch the footage and realise that Povetkin had qualities that would be problematic for Louis.

Also, there's a very good case for Walcott being robbed against Louis.

"Very good", more like pretty much indisputable from any existing footage of the fight. It has been called by many people the worst robbery in a title fight in history. That said though Walcott was very good and Louis got him back in the next fight.

Mr @janitor try to be unbiased here but what do you think Alexander has going for him and on a scale from 1/10 what are his chances? Think of it as a mental exercise- Try to make a capable argument for our modern Russian.

Povetkin can be "problematic" as much as you like, but he would lose, by KO.
No one who isn't a troll would pick him to win.

Louis was a decade into his title reign at this point and badly faded. It wouldn't matter if he lost this and the rematch, really - it has no bearing on how a fight vs Povetkin would go. .

That's your opinion. I think he beats Louis, because they are playing the same game, and Povetkin is bigger, tougher, has actual head movement and has competed successfully in a field of men bigger than Louis ever was. Povetkin has a complete arsenal of punches for a close up fight, with probably the finest heavyweight left hook since Morrison or Frazier. I think his punch for punch power is on a par. Louis might be faster and string his punches together better. Schmeling gave Louis problems with his head movement, and I feel Povetkin can slip beautifully. Povetkin's feet are lighter than Louis' feet despite him being about 20lb heavier and he can move back and forth to throw off the range of the opponent.

Which sorts of opponents gave Povetkin problems? I discount the last fight because Pov was a shell of a shell. The opponents that gave Pov problems were massive-size technical boxers and Louis is not that. Huck gave Povetkin a good fight but Povetkin still whipped him. It was not as close as people think and Huck was a hell of a fighter himself. Byrd, that slippery bastich, also gave Povetkin problems for a while thanks to his elusive style and machine gun flurries. That is also not Louis and Sasha KOd Byrd in the end by cranking up his own workrate to a ridiculous amount.

There's nothing trollish about picking Povetkin here.

Louis stands greater by far in a historical sense, but this is head to head and H2H I think Povetkin stacks up well.

People are talking quality of wins, and I'm pointing out that Louis may not have that win.

I never doubted that Louis could beat Walcott fair and square. A fighter sometimes has a bad day in the office and the other guy is on fire. But it should really be a loss and a win.
