we're so conditioned to the sky platform, its nearly impossible to change.

i bought my dad an android box a year ago ,all sports, movies etc.........

he stuck it for 2 weeks then just subscribed to sky again. And id guess he's not alone, people hate any form of inconvenience

    i give Dazn another year.

Older population yes, younger not really.

Netflix does just fine as a streaming only service.

    Is it much hassle though?

Soon enough every tv on the market will be a smart TV. Clicking on an app via the TV is not hassle.

Discovery + is no different. That is a streaming service. If one wanted to watch the Australian open, it had to be done via streaming.

ESPN + in the US is a streaming service.

DAZN are not the first and won't be the last.

Live sports pictures plus instant channel change on Sky v delayed broadcast approx 1 minute and delays waiting for streams to load when changing streams for live sport - no brainer for people to prefer Sky.

Would they though? People signed up to watch boxing. Those people never signed up based on a promise of other sports to come.

It's very much a specific niche audience they have who will stay or leave based on if they are happy with the boxing product.

Now where the issue would be is that audience has a limited scope so to achieve growth to please investors they will need more rights. If they can't get those then they will leave the UK market.

It's an issue which a tiny percentage of people care about. Technology will see streaming get better.

Sky glass for example is about 40 secs being sky via satellite. Is that a deal breaker for people? For the vast majority not at all.

The Matchroom Fresh Air cards in Jan 2022 still conned people out of £7.99 - scandalous.

Earn made a sales pitch to get people signed up and these game changed cards have not appeared - he has his subscriber base but it is going to be hard to keep them on board unless better fights and cards appear.

That's speculation based on your opinion. Nobody was conned in January as one could simply cancel and not pay that month.

Sky Glass in its current form is the new Sky 3D, which launched with great publicity and disappeared off the face of the earth within 2 years.

This product should have at least had the same functionality as Sky Q but is a grossly inferior product - check the customer reviews.

DAZN UK should not have collected a payment from any subscriber for January 2022 - simply disgraceful and lacking any morality as a business.

Sky, BT Sports and Premier Sports suspended all payments during early Covid for 2-3 months when there was no sport on.

That is the right thing to do and it should be automatic.

I agree but anyone who has issues with sky glass is because of things such as functionality. Being delayed by 40 decs isn't the problem with sky glass. Now TV again another arrive which is delayed footage

So how did this thread about BT Sport possibly entering into a joint venture with Discovery become a thread about bashing DAZN?

But the big difference is those services are contract services. It's not difficult for someone to just log in to there account and click the button cancel.

I guarantee discovery+ screens all premier League/champions League games shared with BT sport on current/new TV channels on the Sky platform.

DAZN know not having a TV channels is a problem especially when it comes to live football. hence why they cut a deal with sky in Germany.

Also I just did some research and the Australian open was also shown live on Eurosport 1 and 2 which shouldn't be a surprise.

Locking sport on streaming platforms only when you actually have TV channels available to use would be idiotic.

Regarding ESPN. The vast majority of live sport is broadcast on ESPN and is not even available on ESPN+. ESPN+ show zero NBA or NFL games for example.
