It's a great fight, but shouldn't be PPV. It actually does the fight a disservice as fewer people will watch it, reducing the exposure. Not a great decision at all.
I have no problems this fight being PPV as it will be a cracking fight and let's face it both woman will have earned not a great deal money from boxing this far. I'm sure it will have an excellent undercard to go with it. Bet you Chisora in his last fight earned as much as both Shields and Marshall have done combined in their whole careers.
Taking a risk putting that on PPV. It’s a huge fight for women’s boxing but I’m not sure it does that well on PPV tbh. Unless they really sell it to the casuals for months.
It’s a great fight, but I think PPV is a horrible decision. These women don’t have big enough profiles (in the UK) to be on a PPV yet. And the undercard will surely suck, as their roster is so weak. Maybe Hughie against Wallin as a co-main is the best they can do. And that’s not much.

As much as I'll enjoy watching Savannah smash Shields unless this has a very good undercard fraid I'm not paying ppv
The same logic applies to male fights on PPV - a very small percentage of the public watch it and most of those who do don't buy it. Box Office needs scrapped to grow boxing.
I expected it to be PPV as I don’t think Shields would have taken it if it wasn’t, but I don’t expect good sales.
I agree partially but look at the purses some of those guys like Joshua, Whyte (undeservedly perhaps), Fury etc get. Do you think Marshall / Shields will be receiving a similar percentage of that PPV loot. I hope they do (even if it's small), but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't and the background people take it.
Do 4-6 box office fights really stop the growth of boxing? Counter Argument would have people say AJ being a PPV star brought in new fans like nobody else has for a very long time. Then you have some of the hardcore fans moaning about the casual fans that AJ brings into the sport. If people want the sport to grow then they gonna have to accept and welcome the new casual fan instead of doing everything they can to turn people away from the sport. The growth of boxing discussion has to be more complex than remove them 4-6 box office events a year I would think. Do we just accept boxing like all other combat sports is a niche market which will have a very small amount of boxers who will become huge mainstream stars. Genuine question. Has the PBC for example seen the sport of boxing grow in any meaningful way?
