Joe Louis struggled with light punching 170 pound Billy Conn. Louis would most likely get knocked out by Usyk. The size has nothing to do with it since Louis fought guys who were 6'6 and 250 pounds.Louis would lose to most heavyweights today because Joe wasn't really that good. He was good at beating 180 pound guys from that era. That doesn't equate to him being good in any other era.
To be honest I could see Usky being a real box of tricks for anybody. You would have to make Louis the favorite, based on his sheer dominance, against every kind of fighter imaginable. Usky might be a bit of a stylistic banana skin to throw at his feet though.
More and more objective members have joined. You know, as in people who don't look at boxing through rose colored glasses and know how hopeless Louis actually is against modern ATGs.
For sure! It's just coincidence that none of you can explain why Louis would be hopeless. You just all "feel" it.
Cause he ****in' sucks by comparison, that's why. Usyk moves way better, Louis will never be able to time him. Usyk is stronger and more importantly, way more skilled. Louis only looks good cause of how static his opposition were. It's a million times harder to land properly on a moving target. With his superior reach and skill, Usyk will land on Louis at will. Louis's face will look like he was bit by a bee hive after the fight. That's if by a miracle he somehow manages to last the distance.
Are you aware that statements like "moves way better", "way more skilled" says basically nothing. That's not explaination, can you point out what aspects of boxing Usyk does better and why? Can you back it up with footage? Can you compare their styles and point out why Louis style wouldn't work against "modern" boxers? Can you also point out what Louis does better than Usyk, to show that you are not a hater? As a sidenote, what makes you believe that Usyk is stronger than Louis? What do you base it on?
Watch Usyk vs Gassiev which is one of his best scalps at CW. Go watch that fight and tell me how Gassiev is any different than so many 40s HWs that Louis blasted out. Just a Basic as hell fighter, cement footed, walks in straight Lines with a high guard throwing single punches at a time. I don't want to Pick a Winner Here but the People claiming old school era fighters are Always outdated are wearing rose colored glasses of their own.
Usyk wins on points in the 1st fight or loses via Louis getting a gift decision in a fairly close fight. In the rematch, Louis wins by KO late while being behind on points - similar to the Walcott rematch.
"To show that you are not a hater". What on earth makes you think, that there are people here who actually hate Louis (or any other fighter)? What would their reason be for this hatered?
I have no idea why people hate Louis, but there are posters here who spend 90% of their time talking about how horrible Louis was compared to modern boxers. It's not uncommon among sports fans to hate players from eras they didn't even live in. A lot of basketball fans hate Wilt Chamberlain for no reason. There are also many people who are massive stans of these players, which is just as strange.
