Wallin didn't remotely struggle; he won 79-74 against a tough and experienced journeyman who comes to win, without ever getting out of 1st gear. Why was the fight boring/lacklustre? 1. Wallin wanted to get plenty of rounds in while taking minimal risk/damage to shake off the rust after being out for almost 12 months 2. Wallin wanted to lower his stock to increase his chances of getting good fights as he has been avoided, most prominently by Whyte 3. A short notice 8 rounder way down the undercard in Cardiff against an 11-24 journeyman isn't exactly going to get you up for a fight If Sokolowski had got the better of a war with Wallin and Wallin got a gift decision (Hunter-Forrest 2) that would be one thing. Even then I would be questioning Wallin's current mental state rather than his ability: he's not going to be shot at 31 considering his limited wear and tear. When he fights a serious opponent again we will see his level.
Lol Tyson Fury isn't at the top of the heap. He beat a no talent unskilled club fighter in Deontay Wilder and that is pretty much it for his career. Well Fury ran from a 89 year old Wladimir Klistchko as well. That isn't being the top of the division.
Lol um Chisora isn't that good. David Haye beat him easier. Wladimir was old and Tyson Fury ran from him. Ross Purrity, Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster beat a prime Wladimir. Cunnigham wasn't anything special at heavyweight and was on a losing streak when he fought Fury and Fury was still put on his back by a light puncher like Cunnigham.
Haye-Chisora was a war compared to Fury-Chisora 2, where dull boy couldn't land a glove and had to quit. Fury likewise beat Hammer with less trouble than anyone else. 20's Wlad who fought RoCoLa was a vastly inferior boxer to late 30's Wlad, which is why he couldn't go two fights without being blasted out by a massive underdog. Most observers had Cunningham beating fellow cruiser champ Adamek in the rematch, he fought cruiser champs on 10 occasions without ever being stopped and KO'd Huck in Germany.
At least 10 of his losses that I have seen have been wins, and he was robbed. True record is more like 25-11 The vast majority of his fights he is just expected to lose. He certainly out worked and out boxed Wallin last night. Wallin was overweight and lethargic and getting Outlanded
Of course Sokolovsky is much better as his record indicates, gets robbed regularly (like against Adeleye, Ali and Browne) and gives many up and comers a hard fight. But when you're an actual "name", then you should be able to shut him out or stop him. Look at the likes of Vycryst and Kossobutskiy against him, and compare. I don't think Wallin actually trained for a fight since the Whyte fight was cancelled. I wouldn't read too much into this 8 rounder with Sokolowski. The jury is still out on Wallin.
Boxer A performs badly against lowly-rated boxer B, but did well against highly-rated boxer C, therefore boxer C is overrated. Life must be so easy when it appears so simple...
Unsure where Wallin's level is tbh until he's more tested. His front foot game is not good, think we can say that.
Otto was never a good boxer. Just a typical Fury blindboys who overrated him, cause Fury struggle with him.
Yes there was big public demand for an Allen v Browne fight. Everywhere I went people wouldn’t stop talking about it with great excitement.
Yes Fury's stock has dropped, when is he going to fight someone dangerous under 35? Come Fury, impress me. Don't run you mouth and act like your impressing boxing fans.
