Do you know if Sugar Hill is out there? I don't think Fury's strength and conditioning coach has travelled there.
He did I agree. however he'd already been in against Wilder twice already with the last fight being a beat down. Also if you see the interviews before the third fight it's pretty clear he saw it as an easy night at the office. Wilder stuck in there and Fury was just ineffective considering Wilder was there to be taken out after just a couple of rounds once he gassed and ditched his gameplen. It was an entertaining fight but it really showed weaknesses in Fury that will be exploited by a skilled fighter. I'm just not convinced at this point that Fury will cement his legacy. I think he fancies his chances against AJ but that's about it. Like Wilder Fury's resume is pretty thin compared to someone like Joshua. I don't listen to all the talk I look at the actions and they tell a different narrative.
Fury had an extremely interrupted build up to the Wilder fight. His daughter was ill and he had COVID (despite what some idiots on here say). He appears to be extremely motivated for this Whyte fight, as for memory he wasn't really posting videos and doing this sort of stuff pre Wilder. I'd put a lot of money on Fury absolutely fighting Usyk if they both win. I don't think he fears Usyk at all and does fancy his chances. The Whyte fight is a tune up.
He got away with it using his weight to put Wilder in head locks and making him gas putting all his weight on him.
Out of interest, as I do believe he brings anything, what do you think Whyte brings to the table that should concern Fury? Whyte is an upgraded version of Chisora, he has ok footwork, decent durability and a good left hook. Outside of that he is not a top tier heavyweight. He's been knocked out twice in his career, should have lost the first fight to Chisoria and was seconds away from being stopped by Parker. Don't make the guy into something he is not.
I'm well aware of the build up but I'm also aware of the interviews on the run up as well. I think it's a combination of things out of his control as well as lack of motivation considering he had already beaten Wilder twice. I like Fury but having followed him from the start I understand not to listen too much to what he says. I really hope your right. I want to see those fights but I'm not holding my breath because memory of previous experience shows that half of the time these promises do not materialise. I think a fit motivated Fury beats Usyk but if he's anything like his last fight he get's outpointed with relative ease.
He has terrible discipline, nothing new. Credit to Peter for keeping this lardball in shape for a few years.
I think it's much more having a developed and strong core than any real benefit flab around the waist provides. Historically the best heavyweights haven't had tires around their waist but a strong developed cored. If gut fat was a significant benefit more top fighters would have looked like Andy Ruiz than not. Fury is an outlier I believe more than anything.
In case you haven't noticed he does condition his body a lot and he hasn't ever shown any sort of weakness to the body before. It's also harder to hit someone to the body when they're moving than you think.
