I keep hearing this but how many sky subscribers who dont have the sports package would watch this? Minimal amounts.
Their boxing strategy is to quickly make every decent fight PPV just like they did with Matchroom. Saturday night showed clearly Sly Sports, without Earn in sight, are the main culprits over the past 10 years for flogging poor Box Office events. Those two women arguing was no different to the Toe Haye and Bellew scam.
I will allow myself to enjoy the great ratings. It shows that there is still great interest in professional boxing here in the UK if it is done in the right way with solid build up programmes, itws etc.
More people now take Sky without Sky Sports than you’d imagine plus I suspect Sky will be trumpeting the peak numbers. I doubt many turned in for the undercard.
The whole point of these numbers releasing are to say “Eubank is a star. He’s a PPV fighter”. I’ll be very shocked if his next fight isn’t PPV and they’ll use these “record breaking numbers” to justify it.
Same here mate - will be shocked if he is not PPV soon along with Josh Taylor although the latter is a genuine star.
Ben Shalom just said on Talksport that Shields/Marshall will be ppv. Gonna need a decent undercard for that.
It was confirmed on Sat evening mate, first by Peter Fury on Twitter then live on Sky. You must have turned off until the main event started.
...but what about the undercard for Khan vs Brook ? I know the main fight should draw all PPV buyers, but I think it looks very thin. Will there be more announcements from Boxxer / Sky Sports ?
This is never a Box Office fight being a current 3rd rate non title fight at best for the washed up bragging rights - bit like their current city teams Bolton v Sheff Wed although I believe Brook is a blade. Hopefully the Box Office Mugths have woken up and refuse to fork out for this 'fight' in large numbers.
