James "Buster" Douglas boxed a masterclass. Douglas dominated every single facet of the game.

I think Vegas odds was 10,000 to 1.

Tyson's life was in turmoil at the time, not to take anything away from Douglas' accomplishment but still.. It will always leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.

Maybe the biggest upset in boxing history? Certainly up there, Tyson had an aura about him at that time.

I think there's always one in Vegas* who will stick with the money guy even if his head has been knocked off his shoulders. That way the wily promoter can quickly start talking of a close fight, many people thought he won that fight etc when the rebuilding process begins.

    * and plenty of other places of course

To be fair a good amount of that was Tyson's fault no one made him go partying and not train.
It was a perfect storm and Douglas was at the right place at the right time.

Tyson was a dumb. He didnt train as he should have done and banged a lot of women in Japan before the bout.

    100%

It was self-inflicted, but we didn't get to see a fully-fit and fully-focused Tyson. I still believe that if he didn't sack Rooney he would have gone on to be the greatest of all time.
