People forget finding a way to get more "traditionally" talented fighters to fight your style of fight is a skill its self. CF style was unique, effective and more than the above actually very thoughtful.
I didn't speak to him much, he was only just pro, although another guy in the house said "oh your Carl Froch the boxer" and he said something like "oh your fans of the Cobra" and did the classic arms in the air bicep pose, seemed pretty normal and easy to talk to. I think he offered tickets, but I wasn't living in Nottingham at the time so didn't take him up on it. I can't remember which pub it was, but one of his brothers would play pool there and flog tickets.
Think whenever you see a boxer walk through a few punches or 'take one to give one', you automatically think low boxing IQ. But Froch was calculated on when to bomb forward and when to be more cautious. Totally different to someone like Ted Cheeseman who would just try to walk through an opponent when it really isn't a good idea.
Nice to see this thread. Froch was my favourite fighter since Benn and Eubank. Never gets the appreciation he deserves. He was as tough as they come
One of the most exciting/entertaining professional boxing careers to follow of any in my lifetime. Easy for people to forget now how many times he did things he wasn't supposed to be able to do according to popular wisdom at the time. Froch got/gets my appreciation, and then some.
They don't make em like Froch anymore. True warrior who would fight anyone without hesitation. Had he been promoted better in the early days of his career could have been an even bigger star worldwide as his style and chin made for entertaining fights. As it turned out his best moments came towards end of his career when time was running out for him at top level. I honestly thought he'd always fight again after Groves 2. Didn't think he'd be able to resist a GGG or Chavez Jr fight in the US. I'd still pick him to beat most current British smw as he keeps himself in great shape. Forget Ricky Hatton or Whoever else talking comebacks atm... Come on Froch, call out canelo!! I'd love that Haha
Never liked Frock as a person but admired him as a boxer who gave us some very good nights. Joe Calzaghe would have schooled him.
Froch was a tough, game and gutsy fighter and was hilarious at blowing his own trumpet, whats not to like
Pretty much became a fan after his war against Pascal to win his 1st World Title. What a run he had, excellent career and a proper fighter. Froch is a credit to British boxing, a career to be proud of undoubtedly.
Did extremely well with very limited ability. God knows how he won a bronze at the world championships.
